    In the first test f its kind in Eurpe, and nly the secnd in the wrld, Belgian researchers tested 39 brands f straws (吸管) fr the grup f synthetic (合成的) chemicals knwn as ply-and perfluralkyl substances (PFAS). The straws are made frm five materials — paper, bamb, glass, stainless steel and plastic. PFAS were fund in the majrity f the straws tested and were mst cmmn in thse made frm paper and bamb.     PFAS are used t make everyday prducts, frm utdr clthing t nn-stick pans, resistant (抵抗t water, heat and stains. They are, hwever, ptentially harmful t peple, wildlife and the envirnment.
