    IV. Teaching prcedures
    Step 1 Revisin
    1. Intrduce the eye prblems n earth
    (1) Shw the first part f the lg f ORBIS, and asks the students what it lks like.
    (2) Give three numbers (“285 millin”, “80%”, “many”) t help the students intrduce the eye prblems.
    2. Intrduce the wrk f ORBIS
    (1) Shw the secnd part f the lg, tell the students it’s nt nly a flying eye hspital but als a training centre and invite the students t cmplete the sentences with the help f sme key wrds.
    (2) Ask the students t think why it is als a training centre, and intrduce the famus wrds by La Tzu t help them understand it.
    3. Intrduce Dr Ma’s wrk, feeling and hpe
    (1) Shw the picture f Dr Ma, and ask the students t cmplete the infrmatin abut his wrk, feeling and hpe.
    (2) Invite the students t lk at the lg carefully and tell them a small part is missing, require the students t think what is missing, what it means, and what we can d t help.
    4. Retell in grups
    Ask the students t intrduce ORBIS with a help f a mind map.
    【设计意图:本环节的设计抓住了本课的话题主线索,紧扣慈善组织的成立缘由、运行方式、受助者的反应、大众参与方式等几个主要方面的内容,帮助学生复习ORBIS的主要信息。通过图片进行信息转换,将纯文字形式的内容生动、清晰地呈现给学生,利用了标识中隐去飞机的部分、原型、增加虚线等几种形状,形象地概括出本文的三个主要部分。引用老子的名言帮助学生寻找中西方文化的相通之处,创造性地解读标识引导学生进行深度思考,着力培养跨文化和有主见的读者。】
    Step 2 Language fcus
    1. Study the language pints
    (1) perate & peratin
    Shw tw sentences with “perate” and “peratins”, use a picture t help the students understand them, and shw the usage f them. Ask the students t cmplete tw sentences with them.
    (2) medical & medicine
    (3) prevent, treat and cure
    Shw the English meanings, the usage, and the nun frms f these three wrds. Ask the students t pay attentin t the differences.
    T: Sme f us have eye prblems nw. What shuld we d t prevent eye prblems? Please put the three wrds in rder.
    (4) affrd
    Ask the students t find a sentence with the similar meaning t “Many f ur patients can’t affrd t g t hspital.” in the text. Help the students t understand the usage f “affrd”, and require them t translate tw sentences.
    (5) n bard
    Ask the students t guess the meaning f “n bard” with the help f sme pictures and s hw sme examples.
    (6) prud
    Shw the English meaning and usage, and encurage the students t make sentences with “prud” and “pride”.
    (7) carry n
    Shw the usage f “carry n” and list sme similar phrases, ask the students t d sme exercises and intrduce the famus pster (keep calm and carry n).
    2. Cmplete the stry
    Shw a passage abut the stry f a little girl and ask the students t cmplete it using the wrds they have learnt.
    【设计意图:在语言点的教学中,教师试图呈现足够多的示例,在真实的情境中引导学生总结出词的不同用法,随即通过造句、短文填空等形式,操练了重点语言点,巩固了学生对词义的理解。】
    Step 3 Extensin
    1. Knw mre abut the stry f the little girl
    (1) Students watch a publicity film f the dcumentary “thrugh their eyes”, and knw mre abut the stry f the little girl.
    (2) After watching, students discuss and answer fur pen questins:
    Why is it a hspital with wings?
    Why d they chse Mnglia?
    What d they d t bring light t darkness?
    Whse life des the peratin change? Hw d they feel?
    【设计意图:紧接上个环节的短文,观看纪录片《明亮双眸》的宣传片,根据学生已有的对ORBIS的理解思考回答四个开放性的问题,这种读后的拓展,促使学生独立思考,创造性地使用已获取的信息。】
    2. Study the questining skills in an interview
    (1) Explain the wrd “interview”. Ask the students t identify the “interviewer” and “interviewee” in the picture.
    (2) Shw the interviewer’s wrds in the interview, and encurage the students t judge whether they are gd questins.
    (3) Give a shrt summary and intrduces three kinds f questins (pen-ended, fllw-up and persnal).
    (4) Wrk in grups.
    【设计意图:本环节重点引导学生观察采访中的问题,思考这些问题是否合适,教师适当总结问题的类型,教给学生关于采访的提问技巧。在小组活动中要求学生选择一个慈善组织,讨论并设计采访问题,课后再查找资料回答问题并设计海报,使这项综合性任务具有实际意义和挑战性,在做中学,提高学生的语言能力、思维能力以及交流与合作的能力。】

    1. Try t answer the questins yu asked abut the charities. Yu may get the infrmatin frm the library r n the Internet.
    2. Make a pster abut the charity yur grup chse. Put it n the wall s the whle class can enjy it.
