I. Teaching aims and learning bjectives
By the end f the lessn, students shuld be able t:
1. knw the name f five cmmn punctuatin marks;
2. knw the usage f cmma, full stp, questin mark, exclamatin mark and qutatin marks;
3. use cmma, full stp, questin mark, exclamatin mark and qutatin marks crrectly.

T learn hw t use cmma, full stp, questin mark, exclamatin mark and qutatin marks crrectly.
III. Teaching prcedures
Step 1 Lead in
1. Enjy tw pictures
Shw tw pictures made f different symbls and ask “What’re the pictures made f?”.
Let the students pay attentin t the circled symbls. They are punctuatin marks.
2. Try t punctuate sentences
Shw tw sentences withut punctuatin marks: “wman withut her man is nthing” and “D yu knw her dad”. Ask the students t add punctuatin marks.
Let the students realize the imprtance f punctuatin marks.

Step 2 Presentatin
1. Intrduce five cmmn punctuatin marks
cmma, full stp, questin mark, exclamatin mark and qutatin marks
2. Read and answer
Shw fur sentences. Let the students read them and answer the questins:
(1) Hw many punctuatin marks are used at the end f a sentence?
(2) What are they?
Intrduce three end punctuatin marks: full stp, questin mark, exclamatin mark.
3. Have a try
Chse the right punctuatin.
【设计意图:开门见山,让学生知道今天所要学习的主要内容,给学生一个初步印象,为接下来的学习做铺垫。通过四个句子让学生找出用于句子末尾的三个常用标点符号,简单介绍句末标点的用法,并让学生练习使用。】
4. Learn the usage f five cmmn punctuatin marks
(1) Full stp
Play a shrt cartn. Repeat the wrds in the cartn and explain what a cmplete thught is. Then give sme examples t help the students understand the usage f full stp.
List sme ther usages f full stp.
(2) Questin mark
Enjy a cartn abut questin mark.
Then ask tw questins and explain the usage f questin mark. It’s used at the end f a direct questin. Give three examples abut direct questins.
Shw three questins t the students. Let them think abut the usage f questin marks in these sentences.
At last, let the students list mre.
(3) Exclamatin mark
Watch a cartn first.
Then let the students read “I am an exclamatin mark! I am used fr strng feelings! I’m excited!” with emtin.
After that, list fur sentences abut different feelings.
At last, encurage the students say mre feelings.
(4) Cmma
Watch the cartn, and shw three sentences.
Let the students knw the usage f separating wrds, phrases and clauses.
Shw sme ther examples abut cmma, explain them and give the students a tip, that is, d nt cnnect tw independent clauses with a cmma nly.
(5) Qutatin marks
Intrduce qutatin marks frm a sentence. Let the students knw they are used t enclse wrds.
Give tw sentences abut direct speech and indirect speech. Let the students cmpare these tw sentences t tell which speech we can use qutatin marks.
List sme examples t let the students knw the placement f qutatin mark.

Step 3 Summary
Shw the table n Page 103. G thrugh it with the students.
Let the students pay attentin t the right writing f full stp, which is different frm the Chinese full stp.

Step 4 Practice
Add the punctuatin marks t the sentences
Give fur sentences withut punctuatin marks. First let the students add the crrect punctuatin marks. Then check the answers with the students.

Give a shrt passage withut punctuatin marks n PPT. Let the students add the crrect punctuatin marks. Then check the answers with the students tgether.

Step 4 Cnclusin
Shw the sentence n PPT:
The teacher says, “Yu are great! Tday we’ve learned cmma, full stp, questin mark, exclamatin mark and qutatin marks. Can yu use them? ”
