Step 1 Lead-in
1. Fill in the blanks.
T: Please lk at this picture. What can yu see in it? Fill in the blanks with crrect wrds.
T: Here is anther ne fr yu. Chse the right wrds and cmplete the passage.
T: I’d like t invite tw students t read the passage. Whse prnunciatin is better? Why?
T: Their different prnunciatins cme frm different wrd stress. This is what we are ging t talk abut tday.

2. Review syllable.
T: We learned syllables last term and we knw each wrd has ne, tw, three r mre syllables.
T: Hw many syllables are there in each wrd?
【设计意图:帮助学生回忆音节的知识,为之后重音的学习做好铺垫。】
Step 2 Presentatin
T: We can see all these wrds have mre than ne syllable. When we prnunce wrds with mre than ne syllable, we stress ne f the syllables. The stressed syllable sunds strnger. The stress can be n the first, middle r last syllable f a wrd.
T: The stressed syllable has sme features.
It is lnger. Fr example, cm p-u-ter.
And it is als luder.
It has a change in pitch frm the syllables cming befre and afterwards.
It is said mre clearly.
It uses larger facial mvements. Lk in the mirrr when yu say the wrd. Lk at yur jaw and lips in particular.

Step 3 Practice
1. Cmplete Part A.
T: Here are three grups f wrds fr yu. Listen and tell which syllable the stress falls n.
T: Grup ne, the stressed syllable falls n the first ne.
Grup tw, the stressed syllable falls n the secnd.
Grup three, the stressed syllable falls n the last syllable.
T: Nw let’s listen and practise saying these wrds.

2. Cmplete Part B.
T: Read the wrds and try t find ut the right stress f each wrd.
T: Listen and underline the stressed syllable f each wrd.
【设计意图:再次利用教材上的练习,让学生在听之前先判断单词的重音,然后听录音检验自己的判断是否正确。】
3. Find yur family.
T: Nw each f yu has a card in yur hand. On the card, there is a wrd. Please read and find ut the right stress. When I say “Wh stresses the first syllable?”, thse with the stress n the first syllable stand ut and say tgether “We stress the first syllable.” Let’s see if yu can find yur family crrectly.
T: Wh stresses the first syllable?
S: We stress the first syllable.
T: Wh stresses the secnd syllable?
S: We stress the secnd syllable.
T: Wh stresses the last syllable?
S: We stress the last syllable.

T: Bys and girls, wrd stress is very imprtant when we speak English. If yu are nt quite sure abut the right stress f a wrd, dn’t wrry. Yu can lk it up in a dictinary.
