Step 2 Presentatin
1. Present the new wrds and phrases.

S: Helpful/Kind.
T: I agree. His classmates als think he is clever, kind and helpful. And they wrte a recmmendatin letter. D yu want t have a lk?
Here is the letter. But it has smething missing. And what d they want t recmmend Simn fr? Can yu find it ut?
S: They want t recmmend Simn fr this year’s Helpful Star Award.
T: I see. D yu knw wh is “Sir r Madam”? If we write t a persn we dn’t knw, we use this. “Sir” is fr a man and “madam” is fr a wman.
T: Lk, here is anther piece f the letter. D knw “hearing frm”?
S: It means getting a letter frm.
T: Nice. T be plite, we use “Yurs faithfully” at the end f a letter.
T: Can yu tell me wh wrte the letter?
S: Sandy.
T: Great. This is her signature.

2. Read and analyze Mr Wu’s recmmendatin letter.
T: What a pity! It is nt a cmplete letter. But we have Mr Wu’s recmmendatin letter n Page 90. He wants t recmmend Chen Dan fr this year’s Yung Star Award. Why nt have a lk?
T: Hw many paragraphs are there in Mr Wu’s letter?
S: There are five paragraphs.
T: Gd. Nw let’s match the paragraphs with their main ideas.
Paragraph 1 tells what the letter is abut.
Paragraph 2 tells abilities f Chen Dan.
Paragraph 3 tells persnality f Chen Dan.
Paragraph 4 tells what Chen Dan did.
Paragraph 5 says again wh t recmmend.
T: Mr Wu’s recmmendatin letter has three parts: intrductin, main bdy and cnclusin. Let’s put the five paragraphs int them. Can yu help?
Paragraph 1 is in the first part.
Paragraph 2, Paragraph 3 and Paragraph 4 are in the secnd part.
Paragraph 5 is in the third part.
T: The first part says wh t recmmend. The secnd part tells us why t recmmend Chen Dan fr this award. It is abut Chen Dan’s abilities, persnality and what he did. The third part tells the wish f Mr Wu and Chen Dan’s classmates.
T: Nw can yu tell me why Mr Wu wants t recmmend Chen Dan? Hw abut Chen Dan’s abilities?

T: Great. We shuld write abut the abilities, persnality f the persn and what the persn did. What adjectives can yu think f fr describing ability?
S: Clever/Bright/Smart.
T: Cl! Then what phrases can yu think f fr describing ability? Nw let’s have a brainstrm. OK, study these pictures carefully and yu may have sme gd ideas.

T: Wnderful! Then what phrases can yu use t describe persnality? OK, lk at these pictures carefully and yu may think f sme wnderful ideas.
