When I was in middle schl,my scial studies teacher asked me t enter a writing cntest.I said n withut thinking.I did nt lve writing. My family came frm Brazil,s English was nly my secnd language.Writing was s difficult and painful fr me that my teacher had allwed me t present my paper n the sinking f the Titanic by acting ut a play, where I played all the parts.N ne laughed harder than he did.
S,why did he suddenly frce me t d smething at which I was sure t fail? His reply:“Because I lve yur stries. If yu’re willing t apply yurself,I think yu have a gd sht at this.” Encuraged by his wrds,I agreed t give it a try.I chse Paul Revere’s hrse as my subject.Paul Revere was a silversmith(银匠) in Bstn wh rde a hrse at night n April 18,1775 t Lexingtn t warn peple that British sldiers were cming. My stry wuld cme straight frm the hrse’s muth.Nt a brilliant idea, but funny;and unlikely t be anyne else’s chice.
What did the hrse think,as he sped thrugh the night? Did he get tired? Have dubts? Did he want t quit? I sympathized immediately.I gt tired.I had dubts.I wanted t quit. But,like Revere’s hrse,I kept ging.I wrked hard.I checked my spelling.I asked my lder sister t crrect my grammar.I checked ut a half-dzen bks n Paul Revere frm the library.I even read a few f them.
When I handed in the essay t my teacher,he read it,laughed ut lud,and said,“Great.Nw,write it again.” I wrte it again,and again and again.When I finally finished it,the thught f winning had given way t the enjyment f writing.If I didn’t win,I wuldn’t care.
A few weeks later, when I almst frgt the cntest, there came the news.__________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________ I went t my teacher’s ffice after the award presentatin._________ _______________________________________________________________
(1)When I was in middle schl,my scial studies teacher asked me t enter a writing cntest.I said n withut thinking.(时间状语从句;非谓语动词)(2)Writing was s difficult and painful fr me that my teacher had allwed me t present my paper n the sinking f the Titanic by acting ut a play, where I played all the parts.N ne laughed harder than he did.(动名词作主语;结果状语从句;定语从句;“否定词+比较级”表示最高级)
(3) did he suddenly frce me t d smething at which I was sure t fail?(定语从句)(4)Encuraged by his wrds,I agreed t give it a try.(过去分词短语作状语)(5)If I didn’t win,I wuldn’t care.(虚拟语气)由以上句子可知文本中分词作状语、状语从句、虚拟语气等句式的综合运用使得语言具有一定的丰富性。
It was the day f the big crss-cuntry run.Students frm seven different primary schls in and arund the small twn were warming up and walking the rute(路线) thrugh thick evergreen frest.
I lked arund and finally sptted David,wh was standing by himself ff t the side by a fence. He was small fr ten years ld.His usual big tthy smile was absent tday.I walked ver and asked him why he wasn’t with the ther children. He hesitated and then said he had decided nt t run. What was wrng? He had wrked s hard fr this event!I quickly searched the crwd fr the schl’s cach and asked him what had happened.“I was afraid that kids frm ther schls wuld laugh at him,” he explained uncmfrtably.“I gave him the chice t run r nt,and let him decide.”
I bit back my frustratin(懊恼).I knew the cach meant well—he thught he was ding the right thing. After making sure that David culd run if he wanted,I turned t find him cming twards me,his small bdy rcking frm side t side as he swung his feet frward.David had a brain disease which prevented him frm walking r running like ther children, but at schl his classmates thught f him as a regular kid.He always participated t the best f his ability in whatever they were ding. That was why nne f the children thught it unusual that David had decided t jin the crss-cuntry team.

at the starting line
Thugh David practiced hard,he decided nt t take part in the crss-cuntry run.
David had a brain disease and he was wrried that students frm ther schls might laugh at him.
文章讲述了___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Althugh he always finished his run lng after the ther children,he did always finish. After making sure that David culd run if he wanted,I turned t find him cming twards me,his small bdy rcking frm side t side as he swung his feet frward.
His usual big tthy smile was absent tday.He explained uncmfrtably.I bit back my frustratin(懊恼).As a special educatin teacher at the schl,I was familiar with the challenges David faced and was prud f his strng determinatin.
[参考范文]We sat dwn next t each ther, but David wuldn’t lk at me. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Sitting n the radside with his head dwn,David kept silent.“I knw yu have made full preparatins fr the run,” I put my palm n his back and persuaded him t take part in the run.“Ignre what the players frm ther teams wuld say and I believe yu culd make it!” Hearing my wrds,David beamed a big smile, std up and mved twards the starting line.

续写两段的内容框架确定下来以后,再根据续写衔接原则来确定四句话的内容(参考前面“4个衔接”原则):确定以上内容后,我们可以通过逆向思维的方式按以下步骤在草稿纸上写出这些内容:Step 1:写第二段尾句(主题升华句);Step 2:写第一段尾句;Step 3:根据第一段首句写第一段的第二句;
[写续写衔接句]Step 1:主题升华句(段尾句):(1)从感恩老师和老师的鼓励的角度来写①N mre wrds culd cnvey my gratitude t him.It was he wh made me realize nthing is impssible t a willing heart.②Since then,my teacher’s encuraging wrds, just like a lighthuse in the mist, wuld always be lighting in the sky f my life.③Then he pinted that my passin, devtin and persistence cntributed t my success.“Just like the hrse yu wrte,he gt tired and had dubts, but he kept ging.”
④I benefit a lt frm my lved teacher. His painstaking care and encuragement will influence my lifetime.⑤After that, his wrds have eched in my ears fr many years, and every time I start writing,I will think f my teacher. He taught me hw t believe in myself and guided me twards a bright future.(2)从个人努力的角度来写①Frm then n,nt nly did I have a gd cmmand f writing, but I als knew the truth—fear never builds the future, but hpe des.②Only then did I realize that it was bravery and determinatin that can cnquer all the difficulties.Hard wrk paid ff eventually.
①When the award presentatin finished,I felt a mixture f feelings.I wanted t say smething t my teacher.②With the prize cup in ne hand and award certificate in the ther hand,I threw my eyes at my teacher,wh gave me a thumbs-up,with his eyes twinkling with pleasure and pride. It was at that mment that I was verwhelmed with gratitude t my teacher.
③I explained why I chse this special subject and even acted ut ne-rle play as Revere’s hrse n the stage, which made the audience laugh ut.In the end,I shwed my gratitude t the hrse rider—my scial studies teacher.④Everything went smthly and I was surrunded by flwers and applause.Hwever, the persn with whm I desired t share my jy was my teacher.⑤Patiently and cnfidently,I tld the audience hw I nce didn’t lve writing and nw enjyed writing and hw I realized the value f perseverance with the help f my teacher.
Step 3:衔接句2(第一段首句后的第一句)第一段所给首句是“A few weeks later, when I almst frgt the cntest, there came the news.”(几个星期后,当我几乎忘记比赛的时候,传来了消息)。
①It was exciting t learn that I had gained the first prize and an award ceremny wuld be held in three days.②I received a phne call, and it was frm the rganizatin that said I had wn the grand prize.③“Yu wn the first prize in the writing cntest,” ne f my classmates rushed t my desk.④The mment I saw my name n the tp f the first prize list, surprise and jy ccupied my mind.
⑤My teacher walked int the classrm,a shining bright smile being n his face, annuncing I wn the first place in the writing cntest when everyne was surprised in disbelief firstly but then gave me thunderus applause.
Step 4:衔接句3(第二段首句后的第一句)第二段所给首句是“I went t my teacher’s ffice after the award presentatin.”(颁奖后我去了老师的办公室)。 ①“Thank yu very much!” I shwed my certificate t him with my eyes watering,“Withut yu,I culdn’t have dne it.”
②Bathed in the enjyment,he waved at me and expressed his cngratulatins.③The teacher walked twards me excitedly and gave me a big hug, saying,“Cngratulatins,by.”
A MOTHER’S DAY SURPRISEThe twins were filled with excitement as they thught f the surprise they were planning fr Mther’s Day.Hw pleased and prud Mther wuld be when they brught her breakfast in bed. They planned t make French tast and chicken prridge. They had watched their mther in the kitchen. There was nthing t it.Jenna and Jeff knew exactly what t d.
The big day came at last. The alarm rang at 6 pair went dwn the stairs quietly t the kitchen. They decided t bil the prridge first. They put sme rice int a pt f water and left it t bil while they made the French tast.Jeff brke tw eggs int a plate and added in sme milk.Jenna fund the bread and put tw slices int the egg mixture.Next,Jeff turned n the secnd stve burner t heat up the frying pan.Everything was ging smthly until Jeff started frying the bread. The pan was t ht and the bread turned black within secnds.Jenna threw the burnt piece int the sink and put in the ther slice f bread. This time, she turned dwn the fire s it cked nicely.
Then Jeff nticed steam shting ut f the pt and the lid starting t shake. The next minute, the prridge biled ver and put ut the fire.Jenna panicked.Thankfully,Jeff stayed calm and turned ff the gas quickly. But the stve was a mess nw.Jenna tld Jeff t clean it up s they culd cntinue t ck the rest f the prridge. But Jeff’s hand tuched the ht burner and he gave a cry f pain.Jenna made him put his hand in cld water. Then she caught the smell f burning.Oh dear! The piece f bread in the pan had turned black as well.
根据第一段所给的段首句“As the twins lked arund them in disappintment, their father appeared.” 由第二段首句“The twins carried the breakfast upstairs and wke their mther up.”
Seeing the mess in the kitchen,he immediately understd what had happened, but he wasn’t upset.
Befre lng,the prridge was ready.Their father instructed them t fry the rest f the bread.Sn,the bread was ready,t.
Opening her eyes, she culdn’t believe what she had seen.
Their father was standing in the drway, recrding this tuching scene. The whle rm was bathed in a happy Mther’s Day atmsphere.
As the twins lked arund them in disappintment, their father appeared.__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Seeing the mess in the kitchen,he immediately understd what had happened, but he wasn’t upset.Instead,he applied sme medicine t Jeff’s hand, and then set ut t help them clean up the mess, thrwing away the burnt tast.Next, they began t make breakfast, and by nw the twins lked cheerful.Befre lng,the prridge was ready.Their father instructed them t fry the rest f the bread.Sn,the breakfast was ready,t.
The twins carried the breakfast upstairs and wke their mther up.________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Opening her eyes, she culdn’t believe what she had seen.Befre she culd ask any questin, their father turned up and tld his wife abut hw the twins had made preparatins t give her the surprise breakfast, and what truble they had gne thrugh when making the prridge and tast.Disbelief gave way t excitement and pride.Hugging them in her arms, she said,“Thank yu,children. It’s such an unfrgettable Mther’s Day fr me.”
3.Negative—Psitive
原文中当老师让“我”参加比赛时,“我”的反应是马上拒绝“I said n withut thinking.I did nt lve writing.”,续写第一段中“我”得到获奖消息后增加了自信,可以写“The recgnitin cleared all my self-dubt and filled up my lack f self-cnfidence greatly.”,这样就自然地照应了文本中的伏笔内容。2.原文第二段最后提到“Encuraged by his wrds,I agreed t give it a try.”,因此续写的第一段作者在领奖时会想到老师的鼓励,所以可以写“The encuragement frm my scial studies teacher came int my mind.”
3.原文第四段提到“I asked my lder sister t crrect my grammar.”,故在第一段续写中可以写得知获奖消息后第一时间分享给姐姐来照应。4. 第一次“N ne laughed harder than he did.”;第二次“When I handed in the essay t my teacher,he read it,laughed ut lud,and said...”。 第二段老师打开办公室的门见到“我”后高兴的样子可以写“N ne laughed harder than he did in the ffice. But this time, instead f playing jkes n me,he cnveyed his sincere appreciatin f my achievements in that laughter.”。
5.原文第一段提到“My family came frm Brazil,s English was nly my secnd language.”,因此续写第二段的结尾时可以写“N lnger did I feel inferir t thers as a secnd language learner...”;原文第一段提到“I did nt lve writing.”,因此续写第二段的结尾时可以写“ never did I feel s keen n writing frm then n.”。
6.原文中多次提到“马”,比如“I chse Paul Revere’s hrse as my subject.”“frm the hrse’s muth”“But,like Revere’s hrse,I kept ging.”。既然主人公参赛的作品是从“马”的角度来叙述的,那么我们可以在续写结尾处以“马”来比喻主人公未来不知疲倦地继续写作之路“Despite the challenges and dds laying ahead,I never stpped writing, like Revere’s hrse never stpped speeding that night.”。
The Meredith family lived in a small cmmunity. As the ecnmy was in decline, sme peple in the twn had lst their jbs. Many f their families were struggling t make ends meet.Peple were trying t help each ther meet the challenges.

I had an interesting childhd. It was filled with surprises and amusements, all because f my mther—lving, sweet, yet absent-minded and frgetful. One strange family trip we tk when I was eleven tells a lt abut her.
Despite mm’s being absent-minded and frgetful, she is still a kind and nice mm.(2)开头:It was summer, and my dad wanted t treat me t a vacatin like never befre. He decided t take me n a trip t the Wild West. Never had I had such a thrilling yet dangerus vacatin befre. The special trip t the Wild West was deeply engraved in my mind.(3)开头:A funny thing happened t Arthur when he was n the way t wrk ne day. What a funny day!Arthur culdn’t stp laughing whenever he lked back n this funny experience.
(1)(2023·新课标Ⅰ,Ⅱ) Since then,my teacher’s encuraging wrds, just like a lighthuse in the mist, wuld always be lighting in the sky f my life. (2)(2023·新课标Ⅰ,Ⅱ)Only then did I realize that it was bravery and determinatin that can cnquer all the difficulties.Hard wrk paid ff eventually.
