1.Plants are flwering faster than scientists predict in reactin t climate change, which culd have lng damaging effects n fd chains and ecsystems.
“Glbal warming is having a great effect n hundreds f plant and animal species arund the wrld, changing sme living patterns.” scientists say.
Increased carbn dixide (CO2) in the air frm burning cal and il can have an effect n hw plants prduce xygen, while higher temperatures and changeable rainfall patterns can change their patterns f grwth.
“Predicting species’ reactin t climate change is a majr challenge in eclgy,” said the researchers f several U.S. Universities. They said plants had been the key bject f study because their reactin t climate change culd have an effect n fd chains and ecsystem services.
The study, published n the Nature website, uses the findings frm plant life cycle studies and experiments acrss fur cntinents and 1,634 species. It fund that sme experiments had underestimated the speed f flwering by 8.5 times and leafing by 4 times.
“Acrss all species, the experiments underestimated the speed f the advance—fr bth leafing and flwering—that results frm temperature increases,” the study said.
“The design f future experiments may need t be imprved t better predict hw plants will react t climate change,” it said.
Plants are necessary fr life n the Earth. They are the base f the fd chain, using phtsynthesis (光合作用) t prduce sugar frm carbn dixide and water. They let ut xygen which is needed by nearly every rganism n the planet.
Scientists believe the wrld’s average temperature has risen by abut 0.8 ℃ since 1900, and nearly 0.2 ℃ every ten years since 1979.
S far, effrts t cut emissins f planet-warming greenhuse gases are nt seen as enugh t prevent the Earth heating up beynd 2 ℃ this century—a pint scientists say will bring the danger f a changeable climate in which weather extremes are cmmn, leading t drught, flds, crp failures and rising sea levels.
68.What is the key infrmatin the authr wants t give in Paragraph 1?

Water quality is als a prblem.Precius sil is washed ut t sea.Wastes frm industry and agriculture create pllutin.Higher cncentratins f salt influence irrigated sils.Water-brne diseases cntinue unchecked. In areas where it's ht and damp, water hyacinths chke ff(阻止) lakes, dams and ther sectins f the river, making it difficult fr fishing and ther businesses t mve frward.
Native peple alng the narrw area f farmland have watched the sand mve clser day by day. They’ve seen the river change curse, and their nly surce(来源) f water thickened with mud. They’re very pr and have few chices.

He came thrugh several peratins and a lt f pain by mastering his imaginatin.
Tm lved t pretend, and he particularly lved t play superheres. Dr. Epstein explained that it was actually a brilliant way fr his yung mind t handle the terrifying and painful life he led.
The day befre his third trip t the perating rm,Tm was terribly afraid. “Maybe I culd g as Superman,”he whispered t his mm. Hearing this, the mther hesitated fr a while. She had avided buying the expensive cstume(戏装),but finally she agreed.
The next day Tm appeared as the pwerful Superman, shwing ff thrugh the hspital halls and clly waving his hand t the peple greeting him alng the way. And Tm,with the strength f his fantasy, successfully made it thrugh the peratin.
The pwer f imaginatin need nt be reserved fr children nly. We all have the pwer t use ur fantasies t attempt things we never thught pssible,t g thrugh thse things that seem impssible, and t achieve what we never believed we culd. Just as Dr. Epstein puts it,“If yu can dream it,yu can d it.”
It desn't mean that yu shuld dress as a superher fr yur next jb interview. But,next time yu are tested in a way that seems impssible, imagine what it wuld take t vercme it. Becme the persn yu need t becme t win ver yur challenge and d it in yur mind first. S,let yur imaginatin run wild, and dare t dream.

When yu have dinner with friends, yu will ften ntice smene paying mre attentin t his mbile phne. We have prgrammed urselves t think that every new message brings life-changing news, s taking calls and checking ur texts are mre imprtant than talking t the peple we are with. What is wrse, sme peple even tend t send annymus(匿名的) rude messages by email.
Hwever, rudeness is never acceptable. Dn't assume it is OK t be rude if the persn yu're in tuch with wn't recgnize yu. If yu have smething awful t say, have the curage t face the persn and say it, write a letter r email and sign it, r frget it. Upsetting peple with unsigned messages is cruel and disgusting.
We shuldn't blame technlgy fr ur shrtcmings. Technlgy is here t help us,but we shuld nt allw it t take ver ur lives. An imprtant step is acknwledging ur shrtcmings. Rather than recycle and reduce ur energy, we had t think f 365 different green things t d and this was n easy task.
With the idea f ging green every single day fr a year, Our Green Year started. My wife and I decided t educate peple abut hw they culd g green in their lives and hped we culd shw peple all the green things that culd be dne t help the envirnment. We wanted t push the message that every little bit helps.
Over the curse f Our Green Year, we cmpletely changed ur lifestyle. We nw shp at rganic(有机的)stres. We cnsume less meat, chsing green fd. We have greatly reduced ur buying we dn’t need. We have given away half f what we wned thrugh websites. Our hme is kept clean by vinegar and lemn juice, with n chemical cleaners. We make ur wn butter, enjying the smell f hme-made fresh bread. In ur hme ffice anyne caught ding smething ungreen might be punished.
Our minds have been changed by Our Green Year. We are grateful fr the chance t have been able t g green and educate thers. We believe that we d have the pwer t change things and help ur planet.

White's secnd reasn fr making the trip was t break the wrld recrd and becme the fastest persn t cycle arund the wrld. He is still waiting t find ut if he has brken the recrd r nt.
White set ff frm Trafalgar Square, in Lndn, n 19th June 2004 and was back 299 days later. He spent mre than l,300 hurs in the saddle(车座)and destryed fur sets f tyres and three bike chains. N jeep carrying fd, water and medicine. N dctr. Nthing! Just a bike and a very, very lng rad.
The jurney was lnely and desperate at times. He als had t fight his way acrss deserts, thrugh jungles and ver muntains. He cycled thrugh heavy rains and temperatures f up t 45 degrees, all t help peple in need. There were ther dangers alng the rad. In Iran, he was chased by armed rbbers and was lucky t escape with his life and the little mney he had.
