On March 1, Dr. Dituri, wh’s 55, began the prject. His gal was t stay fr 100 days at a special underwater htel called Jules’s Undersea Ldge. The htel is 22 feet under the cean surface in a prtected area in Key Larg. The farther yu g belw the cean’s surface, the greater the pressure will be. Dr. Dituri wanted t learn hw this pressure wuld affect the human bdy ver time. In his undersea rm, Dr. Dituri was living with pressure that was abut 66%greater than the pressure n the surface.
While he was living underwater, Dr. Dituri ften exercised in the mrning. He kept teaching his cllege classes, and he had nline chats with ver 5, 500 students frm 15 different cuntries. Dr. Dituri wrked with ther experts t figure ut ways t prtect and take care f the cean. A number f turists dve dwn t spend a little time with Dr. Dituri. He was als regularly checked ut by a medical team.
Last Friday, June 9, Dr. Dituri returned t the surface, where he was finally able t see the sun again. Many friends, family, and supprters were there t greet him and celebrate his success.
Dr. Dituri was smiting when he came back up. Dctrs quickly checked him ut t make sure he was in gd health. Actually, Dr. Dituri went thrugh several big changes. Fr ne thing, he was able t sleep much better. His health greatly imprved in a cuple f ther ways.

Her first adventure after her accident was a handbike ride alng the Silk Rute frm Kazakhstan t Pakistan in the Himalayas in 1996, which she still thinks is her mst significant ne s far. Other adventures fllwed, including mre Himalayan rides, sit-skiing acrss Greenland in 2007 and climbing the 3,000-ft cliff El Capitan in Ysemite in 2008.
Darke jined the British Para-cycling team in 2010 and wn silver at the Lndn Paralympics tw years later. At the Ri 2016 Paralympic Games, she wn the gld medal fr hand cycling.
