[志愿服务/2023江苏苏北七市二模]When she first came t Britain as a refugee(难民) frm Nigeria six years ag, Kemi had a three-mnth-ld daughter, a rm in a shared huse and £5.39 t survive n each day. Finding mney fr new clthes was ut f the questin.
After fur years, Kemi was granted refugee status and secured her first jb interview — unsurprisingly, she had nthing t wear. Hwever, she was referred t a small scial enterprise called Give Yur Best, which asked her her size and what kind f clthes she liked. "And they gave me three beautiful shirts. Thse clthes were like gld t me. They asked me what I actually wanted. That makes yu feel valued."
The initiative was launched by Sl Escbar, wh had spent several years vlunteering at refugee camps in nrthern France. A friend put her in cntact with a husehld f refugee wmen wh culdn’t access any clthing. Escbar realised she had surplus(剩余) clthes she culd dnate, and appealed t her friends and netwrks fr help. She was flded with ffers, but didn’t want t verlad the wmen with ptentially imprper clthing. "S I thught, if I take phts f all f these items and put them n an Instagram page, they can all chse the things that they actually want."
Eighteen mnths later, Give Yur Best has prcessed almst 11,000 items f clthing, and has mre than 800 refugee wmen apprved t "shp" fr free n its virtual shpfrnt. It is aiming fr much mre, hwever. Having reached the very limit f dnatins and requests it culd handle thrugh Instagram, the enterprise has just launched a new digital platfrm that will allw it t hugely upscale.
Like the hugely successful clthing resale app, clthes are phtgraphed and upladed t Give Yur Best, where custmers select thse they like and dnrs then pst the item. Crucially, hwever, n mney changes hands.
As well as giving chice t its users and minimising fashin waste, Escbar says ne cnsequence has been the small but intimate(亲密的) cnnectins established between dnr and shpper. Many dnrs chse t include a supprtive nte and a small gift — hugely welcmed by recipients (接受者), but als a reminder that "n the ther side f yur package, there’s a wman wh is yur size and has yur fashin sense, because she’s shpping frm yur wardrbe(衣橱)".

Rbin Hd famusly stle frm the rich and gave t the pr. Newly hatched yung barn wls(仓鸮) d smething similar.
On average, barn wls raise six chicks at nce — and smetimes as many as nine. But they dn’t all hatch at the same time, which means the lder wls are generally larger and healthier than their yunger brthers and sisters. As lng as the little wls remain in the nest, they’re cmpletely dependent n their parents fr fd. In many birds, the ldest wuld simply utcmpete the yungest, but barn wls are different. It turns ut that the lder, healthier birds smetimes share their meals with their hungry siblings(兄弟姐妹).
"In chicks, it is really rarely bserved. S it’s quite impressive that in this grup, there is behavir shwing they wrk tgether," added evlutinary bilgist Pauline Ducuret frm the University f Lausanne in Switzerland. She and her team wanted t knw hw this unique behavir evlved. It culd be explained by the direct benefits gained thrugh grup wrk, such as sharing fd fr grming(梳毛). Or it culd be explained by the indirect benefits gained frm helping thers that are clsely related — als knwn as "kin selectin".
They fund that the answer was bth. Yunger birds grmed lder nes mre ften than lder nes grmed the yungsters. And in return, the lder birds fed their yunger siblings. In additin, lder wls wuld ffer fd t their hungry siblings rather than eat themselves, even in the absence f grming. Ducuret said that evlutinary bilgists usually characterize sibling relatinships as cmpetitive r even ppsed. But remarkably cmplex examples f grup wrk can still be fund amng animal brthers and sisters.
It seems that even newly hatched barn wls knw that sharing is caring. S think twice befre ding smething selfish. After all, yu dn’t want t be defeated by a newly hatched bird.

As lng as the little wls remain in the nest, they’re cmpletely dependent n their parents fr fd"可知,只要小仓鸮还待在巢里,它们就完全依赖父母喂食,故A项正确。
2. What des the third paragraph serve as?
A. The explanatin f kin selectin.
B. A backgrund f researchers’ study.
C. The cmment n barn wls’ behavir.
D. An intrductin f barn wls’ living habits.
She and her team wanted t knw hw this unique behavir evlved"可知,研究人员认为,这种现象在雏鸟身上很少被观察到,所以小仓鸮的合作行为就非常让人印象深刻。
3. What is the authr’s tne in the last paragraph?
A. Wrried.B. Serius.

4.Which can be the best title fr the text?
A. Sibling Relatinships Are Imprtant fr Barn Owls
B. Barn Owls Are Fund t Be Gd at Stealing Fd
C. Barn Owl Babies Can Be Helpful Hatch Mates

Hwever, why is service s rarely seen these days? "的原因所在。
4.B 上文提到"找到自我的最好方法就是全身心地投入到为他人服务中",再根据下文提到的"你可以服务的地方有志愿者中心、养老院等等"可知,B项放在此处能起到承上启下的作用。
5.C 下文提到"虽然这确实需要付出一些努力,但付出的代价是值得的"。C项(Overall, service and selflessly giving t thers is very pwerful and has many benefits)放在此处能很好地与下文衔接。
