    David Smith is a student, and ne f his hbbies is writing. During the summer f 2010, he spent fur weeks at a summer camp. As well as the usual activities, such as sailing and climbing, there was a writing class. “The teacher was a writer, and she asked us t talk abut ur lives and tell interesting stries.

    3. Hbbies can make yu grw as a persn,develp yur interests and help yu learn new skills.  (1)make在该句中用作使役动词,它的用法主要有以下三种:make sb./sth. d sth.使某人/某物做某事;make sb./sth.+adj.使某人/某物……;make+sb./sth.+n.使某人/某物成为…… 例:We all made her ur mnitr.我们都选她当班长。The news makes me happy.这则新闻让我很开心。
    (2)【辨析】persn、man与peple①persn指具体的“人”,为可数名词,没有性别之分,常和数词连用。例:There are tw persns in the meeting rm. 会议室里有两个人。②man指“男人”,有时也泛指一般的“人”,为可数名词。例:Her father is a handsme man. 她的父亲是一个帅气的男子。③peple作可数名词时,意为“民族,种族”,其复数形式为peples;作集合名词时,泛指“人”,作主语时谓语动词用复数。例:Hw many peples are there in yur cuntry?你的国家有多少个民族?
    (3)interest作名词,意为“兴趣,爱好”。常用搭配:shw/take an interest in...对……表现出/感兴趣;lse interest in...对……失去兴趣;with interest有兴趣地。例:I lst interest in maths last term. 上学期我对数学失去了兴趣。Her main interests are music and tennis. 她的主要爱好是音乐和网球。
    4. During the summer f 2010, he spent fur weeks at a summer camp. (1) during 在……时间内, 在……期间。例: Sme shps pen at night during the Christmas.一些圣诞期间,一些商店在夜间营业。 (2)spend花费。它指花费时间或金钱,其主语为人。常用搭配:spend mney / time n sth.在某事/物上花费金钱/时间;spend mney / time (in) ding sth. 花费金钱/时间做某事。例:I spent 10 years writing the bk.我花了10 年时间在(写)这本书上。

    5. As well as the usual activities, such as sailing and climbing... (1) as well as 也, 还, 除……以外还有; 而且。它用 来连接并列成分。连接并列主语时, 谓语动词与 前一主语保持一致。 例:We all want t visit Beijing as well as Shanghai. 我们都想参观北京和上海。 He as well as his friends likes playing ftball. 他和 他的朋友都喜欢踢足球。
    as well as 与 nt nly…, but als…的区别①A as well as B表示“A和B”,是强调A。②nt nly A but als B 表示“不但A, 而且B”, 是强调B。例:The teacher as well as the students is cming t see yu. 老师和学生们要来看忘你。Nt nly the teacher but als the students are cming t see yu.不仅老师,学生们也会来看望你。
    (2)activity作名词,意为“活动”。其复数形式 为activities。常用搭配:utdr activities户 外活动。例: The club prvides a wide variety f activities, including tennis,swimming and chess. 这家俱乐部的活动丰富多彩,包括网球、游泳和 国际象棋。(3)sailing作名词,意为“航海,航行”。例:I want t jin the sailing club. 我想加入航海俱乐部。
    6. David wrte a stry abut the life f a sixteen-year-ld by, and it came ut… (1)句中“abut the ”为介词短语,作后置定语修饰stry。 例:It's a bk abut flwers. 这是一本关于花卉的书。 (2)cme ut 本句中表示“出版;发行;发表”, 它还可以表示“出 现; (秘密等)传出; 结果是” 等。 例:When will yur new bk cme ut? 你的新书什么时候出版? The answer t the questin came ut wrng. 这道题的答案是错的。

    【链接】s 作连词,意为“因此,所以”。它表示结果,既可位于句首,也可位于句中。位于句中时,其前常有逗号,但其后一般不加逗号。例:As a result,a strike began.=S a strike began. 因此发 生了罢工。 (2)becme作系动词,意为“成为,变得”。其后可 接名词、形容词作表语。例:He became a teacher at the age f 25. 他25岁时当了老师。 The weather became warmer. 天气变得更暖和了。

(1)该句是一个含有because引导的原因状语从句的复 合句。 because引导的原因状语从句常置于主句之后,所表示的原因 多为直接原因。例:Jim was very hungry because he didn't have breakfast. 吉姆饿极了,因为他没吃早饭。 (2)bring sb.sth.= bring sth.t sb.意为“给某人带来 某物”,例:The waiter brught him sme delicius fd. 服务员给他拿来了一些美味的食物。
    (3)pleasure作名词,意为“愉悦,快乐”。它常与介词in、f连用。例:He takes n pleasure in his wrk. 他从他的工作中得不到丝毫快乐。 常用结构: ①(It's) my pleasure不客气,很乐意效劳。这是当 对方表达谢意时 的一种礼貌回答。 ②with pleasure当然了,很愿意(效劳)。表示客气 地接受或同意, 用来回答对方的请求。 ③It's a pleasure t d sth.很高兴做某事。例: It's a pleasure t meet yu. 很高兴见到你。
    ④It gives sb.great pleasure t d sth.某人很荣幸做 某事。例:It gives me great pleasure t intrduce ur guest speaker. 我很荣幸来介绍我们的特约演讲人。 (4)success作名词,意为“成功”。表示抽象意义的 “成功”时, 是不可数名词;表示具体意义的 “成功的人或事”时,则是可数 名词。
    9. “I like playing vlleyball t,” says David. 当 play后接表示球类的名词时, 该名词前不加任 何冠词; 但当 play后接表示乐器的名词时, 需要 在该名词前加上定冠词the。 如: play the pian 弹钢琴 play the flute 吹笛子 play baseball 打棒球 play ftball 踢足球
