    As I went dwn the wden snwy steps, I held the rugh fence with ne hand, held my crying daughter Kelly with the ther and made my way int the yard. I knew everything wuld be kay if I lcated my mther.
    Instead f a smile, she greeted me with cncern. I knew she had read my face as I’d apprached. “What’s wrng?” she asked.
    I held the baby ut. “I can’t take care f this baby,” I said simply. My mther didn’t take her frm my arms as I expected.
