M: Well, it uses a cmputer chip and special glasses. We put an extremely small chip in the blind persn’s eye. they have a very small vide camera inside.
W: S, hw d the cmputer chip and glasses wrk tgether?
M: Well, a blind persn puts n the glasses and lks at smething, fr example, this pen. Then the vide camera in the glasses, takes a picture f the pen. Then the camera sends the picture t the cmputer chip in the persn’s eye.
W: And then the persn can see the pen!
M: Exactly! This whle prcess happens very quickly.
W: Ww! Nw, using this tl, will a blind persn be able t see as well as a nrmal persn?
M: N, they wn’t have perfect visin, but they will be able t see many things.

Helen Keller was brn in Alabama in 1880. Tw years later, Helen gt an illness, which made her becme deaf and blind. Her parents did nt knw what t d. In 1887, her parents gt her a special teacher, that is Miss Anne Sullivan. Wrking with Helen all day, Miss Sullivan tk Helen’s hand and spelled wrds in her hand. Helen sn learned t say what she wanted in this way. In 1900 Helen entered Radcliffe Cllege. Miss Sullivan sat next t Helen in class. She spelled all the wrds int Helen’s hand. At that time there were nly a few bks fr the blind. These were Braille bks. They had a special alphabet made with dts that blind peple culd read with their fingers. Helen graduated frm Radcliffe with hnrs.
Helen wrte several bks. The mst famus ne is The Stry f My Life. Her essay Three Days t See is ppular. She als wrte magazine articles and made speeches all ver the cuntry t cheer up peple. It was nt easy t understand her, s Miss Sullivan helped t repeat what she said. Helen became a symbl f new hpe fr the deaf and blind.
