Experts at Biffa analyzed the amunts f nn-target and nn-recyclable materials that entered UK material recycling facilities between 2016 and 2020.It was fund that,in 2016,the average pllutin rate f recycling waste was 13.4 percent, rising ver fur years t 17 percent by the end f 2020.This shws that, even as peple are becming mre ec-cnscius,wish-cycling is increasing bth in husehlds and businesses.
The Biffa experts say that ne f the best ways t prevent pllutin f recycling is t clean recyclable waste befre putting it in the bin. They suggest cutting ff the tp f ld pizza bxes and nly recycling that part t avid pllutin frm the grease (油脂).Check the n-packaging recycling label t check it can actually be recycled When it cmes t plastics,Biffa recmmends checking the resin cde,the number in the plastic triangle,t knw whether it shuld g in the recycling bin.In general, resin cdes 1,2,4 and 5 are recyclable, while 3,6 and 7 are nt.Larger items, like electrnics, furniture and batteries, can als be recycled but ften can nt g in husehld recycling bins as they need specialist separating. These will need t be taken t recycling centers r sustainable waste management cmpanies.

In his 1936 wrk Hw t Win Friends and Influence Peple, Dale Carnegie wrte: "I have cme t the cnclusin that there is nly ne way t get the best f an argument—and that is t avid it." This distaste fr arguments is cmmn, but it depends n a mistaken view f arguments that causes prblems fr ur persnal and scial lives—and in many ways misses the pint f arguing in the first place.
Carnegie wuld be right if arguments were fights, which is hw we ften think f them. Like physical fights, verbal (言语的) fights can leave bth sides bldied. Even when yu win, yu end up n better ff. Yu wuld be feeling almst as bad if arguments were even just cmpetitins—like, say, tennis turnaments. Pairs f ppnents hit the ball back and frth until ne winner cmes ut frm all wh entered. Everybdy else lses. This kind f thinking explains why s many peple try t avid arguments.
Hwever, there are ways t win an argument every time. When yu state yur psitin, frmulate (阐述) an argument fr what yu claim and hnestly ask yurself whether yur argument is any gd. When yu talk with smene wh takes a stand, ask them t give yu a reasn fr their view and spell ut their argument fully. Assess its strength and weakness. Raise bjectins (异议) and listen carefully t their replies. This methd will require effrt, but practice will make yu better at it.
These tls can help yu win every argument—nt in the unhelpful sense f beating yur ppnents but in the better sense f learning abut what divides peple, learning why they disagree with us and learning t talk and wrk tgether with them. If we readjust ur view f arguments—frm a verbal fight r tennis game t a reasned exchange thrugh which we all gain respect and understanding frm each ther—then we change the very nature f what it means t "win" an argument.
32.What is the authr's attitude tward Carnegie's understanding f argument?
A. Critical.B. Supprtive. C. Tlerant. D. Uncertain.
33.Why d many peple try t avid arguments?
A. They lack debating skills. B. They may feel bad even if they win.
C. They fear being ignred. D. They are nt cnfident in themselves.
34.What des the underlined phrase "spell ut" in paragraph 3 prbably mean?
A. Defend.B. Explain. C. Cnclude. D. Repeat.
35.What is the key t "winning" an argument accrding t the authr?
A. Sense f lgic. B. Slid supprting evidence.
C. Prper manners. D. Understanding frm bth sides.

If yu are ready and able t increase yur cllectin, prpagate(繁殖)frm yur wn plants rather than buying mre, and share plants with thers. 39 Meanwhile, we can build a cmmunity f like-minded, passinate plant peple.
Recycling takes a huge amunt f input, which can end up mre damaging t the envirnment, s instead f buying smething f lwer quality that needs replacing every year, buy fewer things f a higher quality. 40 And they can be passed dwn the generatins.
A.But large cllectins call fr an enrmus amunt f wrk.

【详解】The first bicycle appeared in France in the 1790s. It was a little wden hrse with a fixed frnt wheel.Because the wheel was fixed, it culd nt be turned right r left. The nly way it culd be cntrlled was by the rider pushing against the grund with his r her feet. In 1817, a German replaced the fixed frnt wheel with ne that culd be turned. Nw the wden hrse culd be directed right r left. The rider still needed t push it with his r her feet n the grund. In 1839, a Scttish MacMillan designed the first bicycle-like machine with ft bard and rde it fr 40 miles in nly 5 hurs. The bicycle gt mre cmfrtable in 1869 when rubber tires were intrduced. Arund the same time, the frnt wheels began t grw larger while the back wheels gt smaller. During the 1880s, bicycles enjyed a sudden grwth in ppularity. Hwever, they weren’t very safe. Sitting high up twards the frnt f the bicycle and traveling very fast, the rider culd be easily thrwn ver the frnt wheel if the bicycle hit a small stne. Frtunately, the “safety bicycle” was invented in 1884. The safety bicycle had equal-sized wheels and tires with air in them. And mre imprvements quickly fllwed. N dubt there will be further imprvements in design and materials in the future.
