    Period 4(Section B 2a-2e)设计说明  通过看图片师生自由交谈,引入本课时的课文。在课文阅读前的讨论中,从写感谢信的角度引导学生回顾英语书信的格式,为理解课文内容并回答问题做好铺垫。在阅读时,突出词性对词义的影响,通过词性推导词义。在阅读后的活动中,主要学习课文中的英语表达、固定用法,并练习课文中引申出的话题,结合已有的背景知识发表自己的观点。通过本课的学习,让学生学会关注身边的生活环境、关注他人,利用自己的特长帮助别人,奉献爱心。教学目标  1. 知识目标  (1)掌握单词和短语:letter,Miss,disabled,blind,deaf,imagine,difficulty,open,door,carry,train,excited,training,kindness,clever,understand,change;set up,make a difference。  (2)掌握句型:①I’d like to thank you for giving money to Animal Helpers. ②I’m sure you know that this group was set up to help disabled people like me. ③You helped to make it possible for me to have Lucky. ④Lucky makes a big difference to my life. ⑤You see,I’m only able to have a“dog helper” because of your kindness!   2. 能力目标  阅读短文,获得相关信息,提高学生的综合阅读能力。  3. 情感目标  引导学生学会关注身边的生活环境、关注他人、奉献爱心,培养学生热爱社会公益事业、扶贫济困、乐于助人的优秀品质。重点难点  1. 重点:  (1)掌握本课时出现的生词及用法。  (2)掌握本课时句型,提高学生的综合阅读能力。  2. 难点:  阅读2b部分的短文并完成相关要求。教学准备  1. 准备与教学内容有关的图片。  2. 准备多媒体课件。教学过程  Step 1 Warming up & Leading in  T:Good morning,boys and girls! Look at the pictures. What are they doing?           S1:He is calling.   S2:She is writing a letter.   S3:Maybe he is sending an e-mail.   T:How do you keep in touch with your friends,call them up,write letters or send e-mails?   S1:I often call my friends up.   S2:I sometimes send e-mails to my friends.   S3:Me,too. I seldom write a letter.   ...  Step 2 Presentation  T:Today we will learn a letter.(板书letter)It’s a long letter. And it’s a thank-you letter. First,think about a question: If someone helps you,what will you do?   S1:I will call them and say “Thank you very much”.   S2:Maybe I’ll write a letter and thank them.   T:OK. Let’s talk about it.   Step 3 Reading  Before reading  1. Read the passage in 2b. Then discuss the form of the letter.   2. Translate the following phrases.   (1)因……感谢你 thank you for...  (2)建立 set up  (3)残疾人 disabled people  (4)对……起作用 make a difference to  (5)考虑 think about  (6)接电话 answer the telephone  (7)我的一个朋友 a friend of mine  (8)帮助某人摆脱困境 help sb. out  (9)一只受过特殊训练的狗 a special trained dog  (10)使振作起来 cheer up  (11)对……感到兴奋 be excited about  (12)六个月的训练 six months of training  (13)能做某事 be able to do sth.   (14)因为你的好意 because of your kindness  (15)立刻;马上 at once  (16)改变我的生活 change my life   3. Underline the new words in 2b.   4. Read the new words.   While reading  1. Read the letter again. Get the main idea of each paragraph and match.     2. Read the letter and answer the questions in 2b.   3. Check the answers.   Answers:1. Ben Smith wrote the letter to Miss Li. Because he wanted to thank her for giving money to Animal Helpers and tell her how Animal Helpers helped him. 2. She gave some money to Animal Helpers.   4. Read the passage again and find out the words in 2c. What part of speech is each word? And what does it mean? And make sentences with the words.  Answers:1. group(n.)组,群 A group of students are going to Beijing.2. disabled(adj.)有残疾的We should help the disabled children.3. difference(n.)差别There are some differences between my brother and me.4. imagine(v.)想象Can you imagine what’s in it?5. difficulties(n.)困难 Are you having any difficulties?6. normal(adj.)正常的It’s normal to feel nervous before an exam.7. training(n.)训练They haven’t finished training.8. kindness(n.)仁慈Thank you for your kindness.(答案仅供参考)  5. Use the information in the letter to make true sentences by matching the different parts.   Answers:  Step 4 Discussion  1. Read the questions.   (1)In what other ways do you think dogs are able to help people?   (2)What other animals can we train to help people?   2. Discuss the questions with a partner.   Step 5 Group work  Interview.   Imagine you meet Ben Smith in the street,have a talk to him. Work in groups to have a conversation like this:  Ss:Hello,Mr. Smith. Nice to meet you!  Ben:Nice to meet you,too.   S1:Your dog is very lovely. What’s his name?  Ben:Lucky.   S2:Why do you call him Lucky?  Ben:Because he helps me out and cheers me up.   ...  After they finish,choose two groups of students to share their conversations with the whole class.   Step 6 Emotional education  Ask students following questions:  T:If you meet disabled people,will you help them? What will you do?  Step 7 Cooperative inquiry  Discuss the following language points in groups and fill in the blanks.   1. set up意为“建起;设立”,强调机构与相应设施的建立。  A hospital was set up in our village.   我们村建了一家医院。  2. disabled 形容词,意为“丧失能力的;有残疾的”。  One of their daughters is severely disabled.   他们的一个女儿有严重残疾。  3. make a difference to...对……产生影响/有作用  It would make a big difference to my life.   这会对我的生活产生很大影响。  4. make it possible(for sb.)to do sth. 使(某人)做某事成为可能  5. difficulty表示抽象意义的“困难”时为不可数名词;表示具体的“难题,难事”时为可数名词。  have difficulty(in)doing sth. 意为“做某事有困难”,与have trouble(in)doing sth./have problems(in)doing sth. 同义。  6. imagine意为“想象;设想”,其后可接名词、动词-ing形式或that从句。  I can’t imagine life without friendships.   我无法想象没有友谊的生活。  I can’t imagine dancing in front of so many people.   我无法想象在那么多人面前跳舞。  You can imagine it is true. 你可以想象那是真的。  7. a friend of mine意为“我的一个朋友”,相当于one of my friends。  “a friend of +名词性物主代词或名词所有格”,构成双重所有格。  a friend of my father’s 我父亲的一位朋友  a photo of Mr. Smith’s 史密斯先生的一张照片  8. be excited about 对……感到兴奋/激动  I am/was excited about the good news.   我对那个好消息感到很兴奋。  excited为形容词,意为“兴奋的,激动的”;exciting为形容词,意为“使人兴奋的,令人激动的”。  9. train,training  He is learning to train a dog. 他在学习训练那条狗。  此句中,train为动词,意为“训练”。  After six months of training with a dog,I was able to bring him home. 经过六个月与狗的训练,我能把他带回家。  此句中training为名词,意为“训练;培养”。  10. kind,kindness  It’s very kind of you to help me! 你帮我真是太好了!  此句中kind为形容词,意为“友好的”。  I’m able to have the dog because of your kindness.   因为你的善良,我能拥有这条狗。  此句中kindness为名词,意为“仁慈,善良”。  Step 8 Summary  In this lesson,we have learned these new words and phrases:letter,Miss,disabled,blind,deaf,imagine,difficulty,open,door,carry,train,excited,training,kindness,clever,understand,change,set up,make a difference.
