    Period 5 (Section B 3a-Self Check)设计说明  本节课通过复习上节课所学的课文以及本单元所学的重点内容,引出本课时内容Self Check,然后学生自主完成Self Check。本课时的重难点是写作,学生可以通过话题写作,表达自己的观点,提高运用语言的能力及写作的能力。在写作过程中,做好写作前3a活动的讨论,可以为3b的写作做好铺垫,同时降低写作难度,也可以让学生对自己充满信心,有利于更好地完成写作任务。最后的拓展活动锻炼学生的口语表达能力。教学目标  1. 知识目标  (1)掌握单词和短语:perhaps;in one’s opinion。  (2)复习until,so that,although等的用法。  (3)话题写作:正确使用表达观点的句式I don’t really agree with...,I think...,In my opinion...,I believe...,并根据所给信息独立完成写作任务。  2. 能力目标  (1)能够用英语表达自己的建议,并就自己所熟知的问题发表看法。能用本单元所学的语言简单表达对问题的一些建议。   (2)通过话题写作,表达自己的观点,提高运用语言的能力及写作的能力。  3. 情感目标  学会冷静对待问题,运用合理的办法理性地解决问题,缓解压力。重点难点  1. 重点:  (1)掌握本课时词汇。  (2)能运用所学的语言知识来简单地表达自己对某一问题的看法和建议。  2. 难点:  话题写作:正确使用表达观点的句式I don’t really agree with...,I think...,In my opinion...,I believe...,并根据所给信息独立完成写作任务。教学准备  1. 准备与本课时有关的图片。  2. 准备多媒体课件。教学过程  Step 1 Warming up & Leading in  T:Good morning,boys and girls! First let’s revise the grammar in this unit.   T:Please make conversations with the pictures like this.   A:You look tired. What’s wrong?   B:I studied until midnight last night so I didn’t get enough sleep.   A:Why don’t you go to sleep earlier this evening?   B:Good idea.   Step 2 Self Check  Work on Self Check 1.   1. Revise until,so that and although.   2. Fill in the blanks using until,so that or although.   3. Check the answers.   Answers:1. so that 2. Although 3. so that 4. until 5. Although,so that  4. Read the sentences.   Work on Self Check 2.   1. Read the sentences. Then think and discuss with your partners.   2. Try to give your own advice and then write it down.   3. Check the answers.   Answers will vary. Suggested answers:  1. Why don’t you call her up and say you’re sorry?   2. You should study for the exams because you can go to many parties later.   3. Perhaps you could study somewhere in your room where you can’t hear the TV.   Step 3 Writing  T:Do you take after-school classes?   S1:Yes,I have to take English after-school classes on weekends.   T:Do you think children should take after-school classes?   S1:Yes,I think so.   T:Why do you think children should take after-school classes?   S1:Because they can help children get into a good university.   T:You are great. Now please turn to page 31. Look at 3a.   A magazine interviewed some parents about after-school classes for children.   1. Read the opinions below and translate the following sentences.   (1)课外辅导班能帮助孩子们考入一所好的大学。  After-school classes can help kids get into a good university.   (2)我想让我的孩子成为一个成功的人。  I want my child to be a successful person.   (3)从小开始学习对孩子们是有好处的。  It’s good for children to start learning from a young age.   2. Talk with your partners about these views. Make notes on your own opinions.   Examples:  3. Work on 3b.   T:What’s the common problem for Chinese and American families?    Ss:The children have to go to many after-school classes.   T:OK. What are your opinions on after-school classes for children? Now think about them and write a letter to the magazine.   (1)写作指导:  文章内容:写自己对课外辅导班的看法  体裁:议论文  格式:书信  人称:第一人称  时态:一般现在时  写作过程:首先,开门见山地描述课外辅导班这一社会现象。然后,明确表明自己的看法,是支持还是不支持。接下来用表格中所给的句型结构,一一列举自己的想法或原因。  (2)in one’s opinion意为“依……看”,用来表达某人的想法。  (3)perhaps副词,意为“或许,大概”。perhaps在句中位于实义动词之前,助动词、连系动词be、情态动词之后,也可用于句首。  (4)The students try to write a short article by themselves.   (Give the students enough time to complete the letter in class. And have them write their letters on a separate piece of paper. Walk around the class and give any help they may need.)One possible version:Dear Sir or Madam,  I don’t really agree with the idea of sending kids to after-school classes because all these classes can cause a lot of stress for children. It’s not good for a child’s development.   Although some parents think it’s good for children to start learning from a young age,I think children should have a happy childhood. In my opinion,it is important for parents not to push their children too hard. I believe it is better if parents try to understand their children’s interests and abilities first so that they will not make children take classes that are not suitable for them. Kids should have time to relax and think for themselves,too. Yours truly,John  (5)Collect the students’ letters for checking.   (6)Read the best letters aloud to the class and commend the writers.
