    Period 4 (Section B 2a-2e)设计说明  通过播放音乐或歌曲导入2a的讨论,并引出本课时部分新单词。在完成2b任务之前要求学生浏览信息表,然后通过快速阅读从文中找到相关的信息,旨在培养学生的阅读技巧。2c的目的是培养学生归纳段落大意的能力,教师可以就学生的信息记录进行适当指导,为2d的大意归纳提供语言支架。然后让学生三人一组,合作完成文章大意的归纳。2e是一个开放性的活动,可以让学生分组讨论并将想了解的问题列出,然后与其他组交换,可以作为作业,通过课后查资料来完成。教学目标  1. 知识目标  (1)掌握单词和短语:forever,abroad,actually,fan,southern,modern,success,belong,laughter,beauty,million,record;country music,ever since,one another。  (2)掌握句型:①When Sarah was a teenager,she used to fight over almost everything with her family. ②Ever since then,she has been a fan of American country music. ③However, country music brings us back to the“good old days”when people were kind to each other and trusted one another. ④It reminds us that the best things in life are free. ⑤Sarah hasn’t been to Nashville yet,but it is her dream to go there one day. ⑥I hope to see him sing live one day!   2. 能力目标  (1)通过阅读,能把握文章各段落核心,并能归纳段落大意。  (2)能对整篇文章的内容进行总结,并能合理运用所学语言描述文章内容。  3. 情感目标  通过本课的学习来引导学生热爱音乐,热爱生活。重点难点  1. 重点:  (1)掌握本课时的单词、短语和句型,了解美国的乡村音乐。  (2)通过阅读,能把握文章各段落核心,并能归纳段落大意。  (3)能对整篇文章的内容进行总结,并能合理运用所学语言描述文章内容。  2. 难点:  引导学生在阅读的过程中能借助关键信息对文章大意进行归纳或概述。教学准备  多媒体课件,录音机,磁带。教学过程  Step 1 Leading in  1. Play some popular songs for the students,ask them:Which is your favorite song? Who is your favorite singer? Why do you like him/her/them?   2. Discuss the questions in 2a with a partner. While students showing their answers,teach some of the new words:fan,modern,success,record,etc.   For example:  T:I’m a fan of (a woman singer’s name). She’s good at modern music. I like her beautiful voice. And she’s a beauty. Her songs bring me laughter. She has made millions of records. She is a success. And she wants to go abroad to study further. I’ll support her forever.   3. Get the class to read the new words and practice them. Then check them. Complete the words according to the Chinese meanings.   (1)永远:fore v e r  (2)笑;笑声:laughte r  (3)在国外;到国外:abro ad  (4)成功:suc cess  (5)美;美丽:be a uty  (6)唱片;记录;录制;录(音):reco rd  Step 2 Practice  Choose the correct words in the box to complete the sentences.  (1)The new band had sold more than 700,000 records.   (2)She loves modern music. She often writes new songs on the computer.   (3)We all believe that hard work is the key to success.   (4)Country is a traditional kind of music from the southern states of America.   (5)We will never forget the beauty of Jiuzhaigou.   (6)The famous soccer star has a lot of fans all over the world.   (7)—Are these your pens?   —No,they belong to Sandy. They are her pens.   (8)—How do you read 5,100,000?  —Five million,one hundred thousand.   Step 3 Reading  1. Work on 2b.   (1)Read through the sentences in the fact sheet. Make sure students know what they need to fill in.   (2)Students scan the passage and complete the fact sheet.   (3)Check the answers.   阅读提示:这一活动主要培养学生寻读的技巧,可以提示学生思考如何快速获取信息。例如:信息表中Where it is from要求填写地点,根据这一信息我们可以推测需要填写的必然是地名,而这些词汇都是首字母大写,因此我们可以在阅读时关注首字母大写的词汇。   Answers:(自上而下)the southern states of America;a traditional kind of music about belonging to a group,people being kind to each other and trusting one another;Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum;Garth Brooks;more than 120 million  (4)Find out the phrases in the passage and translate them into Chinese.   ①used to 过去常常  ②(be)full of 充满  ③return home 回家  ④on the radio 通过收音机  ⑤make sb. do sth. 使某人做某事  ⑥think about 考虑  ⑦ever since 自从  ⑧such as 例如  ⑨belong to 属于  (10)one another 互相  (11)more than 超过  (12)hope to do sth. 希望做某事  (5)Read the passage.   2. Work on 2c.   (1)Read through the questions.   (2)Read the passage again and underline the main ideas.   (3)Use the underlined text to write short answers to the questions.   (4)Check the answers.   Answers:First paragraph1. Sarah is a girl who used to fight over almost everything with her family. 2. The US. 3. American country music.   Second paragraph1. Country music is a traditional kind of music from the southern states of America. 2. It is about belonging to a group and reminds us of a time when people were kind to each other and trusted one another.   Third paragraph1. Her dream is to go to Nashville one day. 2. Garth Brooks is a famous musician who has sold more than 120 million records.   (5)Have students work in pairs to summarize the main idea of each paragraph.   For example:(Q—question,A—answer)  Q:Who is Sarah?   A:Sarah is a girl,and she used to fight over almost every- thing with her family.   Q:Where is she from?   A:She is from the US.   Q:What does she like?   A:She likes American country music.   Main idea:Sarah is an American girl and she loves American country music.   (6)Ask some students to read their summaries.   3. Work on 2d.   (1)Divide the students into three groups. Ask each student of the group to write a short summary of the passage. Write no more than 100 words.   (2)Ask some students to read their summaries.   4. Read the passage in 2b and the main idea of every paragraph. Then retell the passage.   5. Work on 2e.   (1)Have students work in groups of four to raise what other facts they want to know about country music. And then make a list of questions.   (2)Exchange their lists and answer the questions on the list. They can do it as homework.   Step 4 Cooperative inquiry  Discuss the following language points in groups and fill in the blanks.   1. But five years ago,while she was studying abroad in England,she heard a song full of feelings about returning home on the radio. 但是五年前,当她在英国留学时,她在收音机里听到了一首充满感情的有关回家的歌曲。  (1)abroad作副词(形容词/副词),意为“在国外;到国外”。  He went abroad last year. 他去年出国了。  (2)on the radio 为固定短语,意为“通过收音机”。类似的短语还有:on TV/the computer/the telephone。  We were eating our dinner in the kitchen when we heard the news on the radio(通过收音机).   2. Many songs these days are just about modern life in the US,such as the importance of money and success,but not about belonging to a group. 现在许多歌只是关于美国的现代生活,如金钱和成功的重要性,而不是有关集体归属感的。  (1)such as意为“例如”,与for example同义。其后可接名词、代词或动词-ing形式。  I have a lot of hobbies,such as reading and singing.   我有许多爱好,如阅读和唱歌。  (2)belong to意为“属于”。  The books belong to me. 这些书属于我。  3. Sarah hasn’t been to Nashville yet,but it is her dream to go there one day. 萨拉还没有去过纳什维尔,但是她梦想将来有一天能去那儿。  辨析:have/has been to,have/has gone to与have/has been in  (1)have/has been to意为“去过(某地)”,现在已回到原地了,后可接次数,如once,twice,three times等,表示“去过某地几次”,也可与 just,never,ever等连用。  My father has been to Beijing twice.   我父亲去过北京两次。  (2)have/has gone to意为“去了(某地)”,说话时人不在现场,一般不用第一人称、第二人称代词作句子的主语。go属于瞬间动词(短暂性动词),不与一段时间连用。  Jim isn’t here. He has gone to England.   吉姆不在这里。他去英国了。(尚未回来)  (3)have/has been in表示“在(某地)待了多长时间”,常与一段时间连用。  I have been in Shanghai for three years.   我在上海待了三年了。  4. He’s sold more than 120 million records. 他已经售出了超过一亿两千万张唱片。  million 意为“一百万”,用法与hundred(百)、thousand(千)、billion(十亿)相同。  (1)与具体数字连用时,用单数,其后也不加of。  There are about four million trees on the hill.   山上大约有四百万棵树。  (2)当表示泛指时,要用复数,且后接介词of。  millions of数以百万计的;上百万的  There are millions of books in this library.   这个图书馆里有上百万本书。  5. The number of records he has sold...他已售出的唱片数量……  the number of 意为“……的数量”,作主语时谓语动词要用单数;a number of意为“大量的/许多的……”,作主语时谓语动词要用复数。  The number of the people in this city is more than twenty million. 这座城市的人口数超过两千万。  Step 5 Summary  In this lesson,we have learned:  1. New words:forever,abroad,actually,fan,southern, modern,success,belong,laughter,beauty,million,record.   2. Phrases:country music,ever since,one another.   Step 6 Homework  1. Review the new words and phrases.   2.
