A new walking and biking trail has been built thrugh this histric park. Illegally dumped (被丢弃的) tires are nt nly unpleasant t see, but they're a dangerus additin t the envirnment. Rubber, like plastic, is a material that wn't naturally break dwn. In a place as ht as Tennessee, these dumped tires ften begin t melt and release these harmful gasses int the air. Frtunately, the ld tires were sent t Patrit Tire Recycling in Bristl, TN, the nly facility in the area that can break dwn tires in an envirnmentally sund way. There, the cllected tires were safely brken dwn int the crumble(碎屑) rubber that was eventually used t pave the new trail.
TN State Parks explained hw the trail's cnstructin, which has been in develpment since 2019, was a jint effrt. Officials frm the Tennessee Department f Envirnment and Cnservatin, the Tennessee Department f Transprtatin, the City f Memphis, Shelby Cunty, and Memphis City Beautiful were all invlved in funding this recycling prject.
These fficials named their initiative the “Tires t Trails” prject. Wrkers frm these departments, alngside sme 450 vlunteers, came tgether t cllect ver 24, 000 tires that had been illegally dumped in the area arund the park t be recycled.

Plite requests like this can be fund in museums all ver the wrld, but they generally fail t persuade peple ut f taking phts f whatever they feel like. The same ges fr cncerts, mvie theaters and ther places where peple rutinely ignre filming restrictins. A new patent frm Apple may help discurage that rebellius behavir-n phnes at least.
The patent, awarded t Apple tday, utlines a system which wuld allw venues t use an infrared emitter(红外线发射器) t remtely disable the camera functin n smartphnes. Accrding t the patent, infrared rays culd be picked up by the camera, and interpreted by the smartphne as a cmmand t blck the user frm taking any phts r vides f whatever they're seeing.
Many musicians and perfrmers have banned cellphnes frm their shws, either because they want their audiences t actually pay attentin t them, r because they dn't want the free ftage(片段镜头) ging viral arund the web. Despite this, unauthrized (未授权的) images still manage t make their way int the public eye. The last cncert f American singer Prince befre he passed away was suppsed t be cellphne-free —it apparently wasn't. If Apple's patent is intrduced int iPhne sftware, and venues put infrared emitters arund their stage, leaks like this culd ptentially stp happening.
But the patent als raises questins abut the srt f pwer that this technlgy wuld be handing ver t peple with mre immral intentins.
Right nw, there's n guarantee that Apple intends t put this technlgy int any f its sftware —Apple desn't act n many f the thusands f patents it files each year —and the cmpany wasn't immediately available t cmment n its plans fr the patent.
Given the cmpany's rigid supprt f persnal privacy when it cmes t plice requests t break int users' devices, it's pssible that Apple just patented the technlgy s that n ne else will use it. But wh knws, if it des intend t intrduce this feature t future perating systems, sales f alternative shting devices like camcrders, r even GPrs, culd get a much-needed bst, as peple try t avid having t use the prhibitive sftware.
32. Hw can Apple's patented system prevent smartphne users frm taking phts r vides at specific venues?
A. By giving ut a sund wave that disables smartphne cameras.
B. By picking up infrared rays emitted by the cameras when they are filming.
C. By using infrared rays that can remtely blck camera usage n smartphnes.
D. By autmatically deleting phts r vides if they are taken withut permissin.
33. Which f the fllwing is ne f the reasns why cellphnes are banned frm many shws?
A. T make the perfrmers mre fcused n the shw.
B. T avid the unauthrized ftage being freely shared and spread nline.
C. T prevent the perfrmers' images frm cming t widespread public attentin.
D. T prtect the audience frm peple with immral intentins.
34. What des the underlined wrd in the furth paragraph mean?
A. Unintended damage. B. Unauthrized release.
C. Unexpected death. D. Undesired freedm.
35. What can we learn frm the last tw paragraphs?
A. Apple has planned t apply this patent t future perating systems.
B. All the patents Apple files each year are meant t be put int its sftware.
C. Apple may agree t put this technlgy int its sftware due t plice requests.
D. Peple may turn t ther shting devices if Apple intrduces the prhibitive sftware.

His team was facing adversity (逆境) n the curt and he was playing in a hstile envirnment— it was the ppnent's hme gym filled with their supprters, and Nathan's team was trailing(落后)fr three quarters f the game.
25. B。根据文章第二段中的 “During my drive hme, I kept telling myself that I will find wrk again in a shrt time-I am cnfident in my experience and abilities. This is the same belief that I tried t instill in my sn.
As Nathan std at the ful line preparing fr a sht that wuld put his team up by three pints, . . . 和 Nathan was able t tune ut all the distractins and nail the free thrw with such skill(内森能够屏蔽掉所有的干扰,以出色的技巧命中罚球)可知C为正确答案。
27. C。 最后一段it dawned n me that I had taught him perseverance in the face f adversity, and he had just taught me the same lessn.
28. A。 O. Fuller State Park in Memphis, Tennessee, has been lved fr generatins and has always been a grund where cmmunity has cme first. 根据第一段最后一句话 “Over 80 years later, the park is cntinuing its frward-thinking traditin, this time, thrugh a pineering sustainability prject” 可知,它是一个有着良好传统的公园,因此T. 故选A。
29. B。 根据第二段中 “Rubber, like plastic, is a material that wn't naturally decmpse. In a place as ht as Tennessee, these dumped tires ften begin t melt and release these harmful gasses int the air.
根据最后一段中 “This is a perfect example f recycling in full circle, cllecting dumped material, then cnverting it int psitive use” 可知 David 在最后一段的意思是T.
通读全文,尤其是第二段的 “Frtunately, the ld tires were sent t Patrit Tire Recycling in Bristl, TN, the nly facility in the area that can break dwn tires in an envirnmentally sund way. There, the cllected tires were safely brken dwn int the crumble(碎屑) rubber that was eventually used t pave the new trail” 可知,本篇文章主要讲述了田纳西州的T.
Accrding t the patent, infrared rays culd be picked up by the camera, and interpreted by the smartphne as a cmmand t blck the user frm taking any phts r vides f whatever they're seeing 得知C是正确的。
33. B。从第四段第二和第三行 because they dn't want the free ftage(片段镜头) ging viral arund the web可知B是正确的。
34. B。 本句中 “leaks like this” 是指上文中 The last cncert f American singer Prince befre he passed away was suppsed t be cellphne-free —it apparently wasn't.
35. D。根据 sales f alternative shting devices like camcrders(便携式摄像机), r even GPrs, culd get a much-needed bst, as peple try t avid having t use the prhibitive sftware.
