Neil Shuttlewrth, an 82-year-ld English man, was hardly able t walk because f stearthritis （骨关节炎） in his right ankle. Prblems began fr Neil after he accidentally stepped int an unseen hle in a rad surface while n hliday in Cyprus several years ag. Thankfully, he received an artificial ankle made frm the materials f bulletprf （防弹的） vests.
Neil, wh is a retired printing specialist frm Huddersfield, West Yrkshire, paid fr the peratin himself since it is nt currently available n the Natinal Health Service (NHS). When he finally chse t have the peratin, he said it was because he had just ne ambitin: t walk hand-in-hand with Christine, his wife f 34 years. “Actually, I wasn’t expecting t run a marathn. I wuld like t walk dwn the Prmenade de la Crisette in Cannes with my wife, but withut the pain I had lived with fr far t lng,” Neil said.
The peratin uses plyethylene （聚乙烯） materials that are used t make bulletprf vests, but with extra added vitamin E. Since the E-ply is made frm strng plastic fibers, it is expected t last much lnger than current replacements.

Tiny huses are hmes that are less than 40 square meters in size, yet still cntain all the features and living space that yu need.
Tumbleweed Tiny Huse Cmpany is ne f the mst ppular tiny huse cmpanies. The wner, Jay Shafer, has been living in a tiny huse since 1997. The smallest huse they ffer has wheels and csts arund $ 40,000, fully built. It is designed fr ne persn and the flr space is just 6 square meters. At the ther end f the scale （规模）, the cmpany’s biggest huse is the B-53 which has tw stries and 78 square meters f flr space. Jay says that because his smallest hmes are equipped with wheels, wners dn’t even need t buy land.
Of curse, tiny huses have their dwnsides （劣势） t. They are nt ideal fr large families, and they’re nt actually cheap when yu measure them n a price-per-square-meter basis.
