She wrks at the Tchimpunga Chimpanzee Rehabilitatin Center, in the Republic f the Cng, in Africa. The chimp’s name is Gerge. He was taken frm his mther by hunters. Finally, he was rescued and taken t the sanctuary (鸟兽保护区), where Chantal helped him make friends with ther chimpanzees. “We rescue chimps frm terrible cnditins and help them t live in the wild like ther chimpanzees,” Chantal said, “They need t learn chimp behavir.”
Chimpanzees meet a lt difficulties because peple cut dwn frest and illegal (非法的) wildlife trade. Their ppulatin, numbering in the millins a century ag, culd be dwn t 172,000. This makes the wrk f the Tchimpunga Sanctuary even mre imprtant.

JGI helps the peple in these places get healthcare, clean water, and thers. This makes them less dependent n the area’s natural resurces and reduces illegal trade in chimps. At present, there are islands within the sanctuary where the chimps can be safe frm wild chimpanzees and hunters. And they’re still under the care f the sanctuary staff.
