Observe the changes f frgs. (出示课件) The teacher makes a mdel at first.
T: When it was a tadple, it had a tail. Nw it becmes a frg. It has n tail.
Lead students t pay attentin t the differences in time and verbs. Students learn t use the simple past tense and the simple present tense t describe things prperly and crrectly. T: Can yu describe the changes in this girl and this by?
S1: She had lng hair. Nw she has shrt hair.
S2: He played the guitar. Nw he plays basketball.

(1) Present the pictures in “Let’s check”. (课件出示:Let’s check板块的图片) Lead students t get detailed infrmatin frm the pictures and predict the main idea f the listening materials.

S2: In Picture 2, he always rde a bike.

T: Lk at the picture f this girl. Chen Jie was shrt befre. (Pint t the lw height when she was a little girl.) Nw she is 1.5 metres tall. (Pint t the height f 1.5 metres.) It’s the difference between then and nw. Yu can say like this “Chen Jie was shrt befre. Nw she is 1.5 metres tall.”

T: When we describe the changes between then and nw, we can express like this “It was…/There was/were (n/nt)… It is…nw./There is/are (n/nt)…nw.” Yu can als add sme adverbial expressins f time f the present r the past.
4. Grup wrk—Changes in my friend.⑤
Wrk in grups. One partner talks abut his r her changes. Other partners take brief ntes while listening. Then make a reprt t present the partner’s changes.
The teacher makes a mdel at first. Ask a student t talk abut his r her changes. The teacher takes ntes n the blackbard while listening, and then retells the student’s changes.
S1: Three years ag, I was shrt and fat. My hair was lng. I didn’t like art. Nw I am tall and thin. My hair is shrt. I like art very much.
