Artificial intelligence (AI) technlgy has been widely applied in a natinal park in Nrthwest China t track snw lepards inhabiting the regin.

The technlgy, jintly develped by Chinese Internet giant Tencent, the Wrld Wild Fund and One Planet Fundatin, can thus imprve data prcessing efficiency.
Lcated at arund 3, 500 meters abve sea level, the Qilian Muntains with vast stretches f bare rcks reaching frm the grass prvide a favrable hideaway shelter fr the snw lepards.
Thugh mre than 200 cameras have been put in the regin, srting ut relevant infrmatin had nt been easy fr researchers.
“Fr cnducting further studies n the ppulatin, distributin and activities f the snw lepards, a flagship species in the regin, the cameras wuld capture hundreds f thusands f vide clips and phts every quarter,” said Ma Duifang with the administratin bureau f the park's Gansu sectin.
“Even a slight mvement in the envirnment, such as a mild breeze blwing ver the grass, can activate the cameras. Smetimes, curius wildlife bumps int the device triggering the shutter(触发快门), and the cameras take pictures f mere cluds,” Ma added.
Ma and his clleagues had t g thrugh each vide frame by frame(逐帧地). The infrmatin f species that appeared n the images als required human input, s it ften tk them several weeks t cmplete such tasks.
Tencent's engineering team has independently develped a species recgnitin algrithm(算法) by means f transfer leaning and autmatic data enhancement. Thanks t Al technlgies, researchers in the Qilian Muntains Natinal Park n lnger need t wrk like mad in search f lepards hiding ut in the wild.
“The frest plice can nw lcate a snw lepard frm 1, 000 pictures in just abut 20 minutes, much faster than befre, said Huang Xiangqi, ne f the tech develpers.”
Snw lepards are under China's highest natinal-level prtectin and are listed as vulnerable by the Internatinal Unin fr Cnservatin f Nature.
In China, they can be sptted in cld areas in suthwestern, nrthwestern, and nrthern regins including Tibet, Sichuan, Xinjiang, Gansu and Inner Mnglia.
“We hpe we can cmbine mnitring data with field investigatin t help researchers identify the wild species s as t draw up a mre specific plan fr their prtectin,” said Ma Ya, directr f the prject, hping the digital tlbx can he used in mre cuntries.

When I give public lectures abut the climate crisis, the mst cmmn questin peple pse is: “Are yu an ptimist r a pessimist?”
My answer is the frmer ne. Califrnia has achieved significant emissin(排放) reductins in a strng ecnmy, which makes me hpeful, yet in general the fssil-fuel industry is determined nt t change. The secnd mst cmmn questin is: “What can I, persnally, d?”
That's a tugh ne. The majr drivers f climate change are cllective enterprises(集体企业) such as industry, large-scale agriculture and transprtatin systems. Real emissin reductins in these settings mst likely will nt cme frm persnal actins; they will cme frm laws and plicies such as carbn-pricing systems, revised building cdes and supprts fr green investment.
Sme peple have argued that calls fr individual actins actually distract us frm the respnsibility f big cmpanies. That culd explain why the fssil-fuel industry is fnd f such requests. Oil giant BP ppularized and prmted the idea f a carbn ftprint, turning attentin t its custmers wh, it suggests, shuld take persnal respnsibility by lwering their carbn ftprints. One study fund that fcusing n individual activity actually makes it harder fr mre effective plicies such as a carbn tax t be carried ut. Anther prblem with persnal behavir is that peple d nt like t be tld what t d.
Yet individual acts can grw int influential grup activity. One effective act, and ne that can be amplified (放大), is t eat less red meat. Cutting meat cnsumptin is a pwerful and persnal thing mst Americans can d t deal with the climate crisis, and they can d it immediately. Abut 40 percent f greenhuse gases cme frm agriculture, defrestatin and ther land-use changes. Meat —particularly beef—drives climate change in tw ways: first, thrugh cws' emissin f methane, a greenhuse gas, and secnd, by destrying frests as they are changed t grazing land(牧场) t satisfy the glbal demand fr beef. By eating less beef, we can start t decrease that demand. Yu d nt have t becme a vegan t d this. If every persn in the U. S. cut their meat cnsumptin by 25 percent, it wuld reduce annual greenhuse gas emissins by 1 percent. That might nt sund like a lt, but it wuld help prtect the rainfrest, s the psitive effects—including reduced water and fertilizer use, imprved bidiversity and safeguarded rights f lcal peples—wuld be amplified.
Perhaps mst imprtant, scial actin is cntagius—in a gd way. If lts f us begin t eat less meat and if we talk abut it cnstantly, we are likely t influence thers. Pretty sn the 1 percent reductin becmes 2 percent r mre. Reduced demand fr meat culd mtivate my lcal supermarket t carry better prduce, making it easier fr me and my neighbrs t prepare a few mre satisfying meat-free meals. In the end, changes in demand will influence industry. Frty years ag few mainstream supermarkets carried rganic prducts; nw nearly all d. Cnsumer demand did that.
Cutting back n red meat als has the added benefit t yur health. S while I wuldn't advise gvernments t rder peple t stp eating hamburgers, if anyne asks, “What can I d? ” a simple answer is: “Eat less meat. It's in yur cntrl, and yu can begin right nw. It benefits bth yu and the planet.”
25. Which ne plays the mst decisive rle in emissins reductins accrding t the passage?
A. Individual actins.B. Fssil-fuel industries.
C. Big cmpanies. D. Effective laws and plicies.
26. What can we learn frm the passage?
A. Meat is cnsidered as the biggest driver f climate change.
B. Small individual acts can make a big difference when amplified.
C. Mst Americans have t becme vegans t deal with the climate crisis.
D. Big enterprises are taking their respnsibility by calling fr individual actin.
27. What des the underlined wrd “cntagius” in Paragraph 6 mean?
A. Appealing. B. Pisnus. C. Harmnius. D. Spreading.
28. What is the purpse f the authr writing this passage?
A. T explain ways t reduce carbn ftprint.
B. T prmte the idea f healthy eating habits.
C. T persuade peple t cut meat cnsumptin.
D. T argue against the emissin plicies f industries.

Later, the researchers examined mice and tested fr changes in behavir. (32)_________ The results shwed that the treatment slwed aging in the animals.
