Several years ag, my father decided t vlunteer at the lcal children hspital. My dad lved kids. It was the perfect jb fr him. He wuld talk t them and play with them and d arts and crafts with them.
There was a girl, Karen, wh had been admitted with a rare disease that paralyzed (使麻痹) her frm the neck dwn. She was very depressed. My dad decided t try t help her. The findings shwed that fr wmen, thse wh had high scres n a humrus way f thinking had a 48 percent less risk f death frm all causes, a 73 percent lwer risk f death frm heart prblems and an 83 percent lwer risk f death frm infectin. Fr men, a cnnectin was fund nly fr the risk f death frm infectin — thse with high humr scres had a 74 percent reduced risk. The researchers suggested the sex differences culd be due t a small decrease in humr scres as the men aged. N cnnectin was fund fr the influence f rumr n scial skills and emtin develpment.
“The humrus way f thinking plays an imprtant rle in peple’s persnality (性格) and may influence the way peple cpe with everyday life,” said study c-researcher Sven Svebak. “In this way, it may help reduce fighting in daily life, preventing the build-up f stress.” Althugh the sense f humr is a natural characteristic (特征), it can als be develped thrugh scial activities.
