Highway 49 (Hwy 49)
That highway number is significant: It is in memry f the 49 peple wh came seeking fr frtune in Califrnia’s riginal Gld Rush. Tday the rute winds thrugh Gld Cuntry twns such as Placerville and Nevada City, past ghstly Old West mines and Victrian buildings.
