Well, my daily life is different frm the daily lives f millins f children wh g t regular schls, but I’m enjying my time with my mm. I’m learning things at my wn pace. We can g fast r slw, depending n the subject. These days, I’m reading bks that mst kids nly read when they get t cllege. I’m studying French, German, art, and the histries f the wrld—things I’m very interested in.
A lt f kids think I never get t cmmunicate with ther kids, but that’s nt true. I get tgether with the ther hmeschled kids during ur weekly sprts games and at scial events. I dn’t just study at hme. Last year, I started ding sme vlunteer wrk fr a charity (慈善机构) in my twn that helps disabled children. I fund ut that the charity needed t buy sme new wheelchairs, but that they really didn’t have the mney. S, I started t think abut what I culd d t raise mney.
When I mentined this t my friends, they said, “Well, why dn’t yu run the Lndn Marathn?!” They laughed and s did I—we all knw that I’ve never dne any running befre. But later, I started t think that it might nt be a bad idea.
I talked t the charity peple and they agreed t put my name frward. I bught sme gear (装备) and started running. After a mnth r s, I fund I culd d almst five kilmeters. The prblem, thugh, was that the marathn is 42 kilmeters. The race was nly five mnths away. I practiced as hard as I culd—I had t run and finish the race, because if I did, I wuld raise enugh mney t buy fur new wheelchairs.
Well, when the big day came, I was nt at all sure that I was ready. During my training, I’d managed t run 25 kilmeters, but 42? Culd I d it?
Luckily it wasn’t a ht day and the peple running with me helped me a lt. Hwever, after abut 34 kilmeters, I was really tired and I nearly stpped, but the peple watching cheered me n and I managed t struggle (挣扎) n t the finish line. My time was five hurs and ten minutes.
It was hard, but I finally did the marathn and gt the wheelchairs fr the charity.

The cld virus (病毒) is ne example. Peple in many cuntries dn’t take medicine fr a cld. They make a big pt f ht chicken sup instead. They eat the sup and rest. Many peple believe that chicken sup is a natural and healthy cure fr a cld. And in fact it really helps: drinking a lt f water is gd when yu have a cld. Als, the ht sup helps yu breathe better and helps yur thrat.
And in China, it’s cmmn t cure a headache with an egg. Yu bil the egg, take ff the shell and rub (揉) the egg n yur face, head and neck until the egg becmes cl. Sme peple think this helps yu sleep better, t. Rubbing with the egg relaxes yu. Often headaches are because f stress, s relaxing is a great idea.
What abut a fever? There are a lt f different hme remedies, but an interesting hme remedy uses vinegar (醋). In Russia, peple rub it int the skin. Vinegar makes yur skin feel cler, and it can help lwer yur bdy temperature a little.
One f the wrld’s ldest hme remedies is tea. Yu can use herbal (草药) teas fr all kinds f simple stmachaches and sre thrats. Sme ppular ingredients in hme remedy teas make a sre thrat feel better and help yu relax.
