The fcus f this prject is t study the effect that climate change has n the permafrst (永久冻土) within the regin. Permafrst is sil that stays frzen fr at least tw years. Althugh this is a recrd high fr Antarctica, Schaefer stressed that “We can't use this t anticipate climatic changes in the future. But in fact, the last high temperature reading was in the 19 ℃ range. These higher temperatures can cause ice and glaciers (冰川) in Antarctic regins t melt.
