Fr Caribbean bx jellyfish (水母), learning is literally a n-brainer.
In a new experiment, these animals learned t spt and avid bstacles (障碍物) despite having n central brain, researchers reprt in Current Bilgy. This is the first evidence that jellyfish can make mental cnnectins between events and change their behavir accrdingly. “Maybe learning desn’t need a very cmplex nervus system, but rather, learning is an essential part f nerve cells,” says Jan Bielecki, a neurethlgist at Kiel University in Germany. If s, the new finding culd help trace hw learning evlved in animals.
Bielecki and his clleagues wndered if Caribbean bx jellyfish culd learn that lw-cntrast bjects, which might at first seem distant, were actually clse by. The team put 12 jellyfish int a rund tank surrunded by lw-cntrast, gray and white stripes. A camera filmed the animals’ behavir fr abut seven minutes.
At first, the jellyfish seemed t interpret the gray stripes as distant rts and swam int the tank wall. But thse cllisins (碰撞) seemed t lead the jellyfish t treat the gray stripes mre like clse rts in dirty water, and the animals started aviding them. The jellies’ average distance frm the tank wall increased frm abut 2.5 centimeters in the first cuple f minutes t abut 3.6 centimeters in the final cuple f minutes. Their average cllisins int the wall drpped frm 1.8 per minute t 0.78 per minute.
“I fund that really amazing,” says Nagayasu Nakanishi, an evlutinary bilgist at the University f Arkansas in Fayetteville, wh has studied jellyfish nervus systems but was nt invlved in the new wrk. “I never thught jellyfish culd really learn.”
Neurbilgist Björn Brembs views the results mre cautiusly, nting the small number f jellyfish tested and the variability in their perfrmance. “I want this t be true, as it wuld be very cl,” says Brembs. Experiments with mre jellyfish culd cnvince him that the animals really d learn.
8.What can we knw abut the jellyfish in paragraph 2?

B.They gradually started aviding the gray stripes.
C.They culd avid cllisins if given enugh time.
D.They increased their cllisins with the tank wall.
10.What cnclusin can be drawn frm the experiment?
A.Jellyfish preferred the gray stripes ver ther things.
B.Jellyfish were unable t learn frm their envirnment.
C.Jellyfish relied n the distant bjects t change their behavir.
D.Jellyfish shwed a learning prcess and adjusted their behavir.

In the 1940s, a single study f Lndn’s transprt wrkers transfrmed epidemilgy(流行病学), medicine and the way we live nw. Every time yu g n a run, check yur steps, r take the stairs instead f the lift, yu are fllwing a path established by the feet f the wrkers n Lndn’s buses.
In the late 1940s, Britain, like many rich cuntries, was suffering frm an “epidemic” f heart disease and n ne knew why. Varius hyptheses (猜想), such as stress, were suggested; but n ne nticed exercise. The idea that health and exercise were linked “wasn’t the accepted fact that we knw tday”: Sme even felt that “t much physical activity was a bad thing fr yur health”.
At this time, Jerry Mrris started t suspect that the t many deaths frm heart disease might be linked t ccupatin. He began studying the medical recrds f 31,000 Lndn transprt wrkers. His findings were breathtaking: cnductrs, wh spent their time running up and dwn stairs, had an apprximately 30% lwer incidence f disease than drivers. He als lked at pstal wrkers, and fund a similar pattern: pstmen had far lwer rates f disease than telephnists.
Mrris’s research was eventually published in 1953, and his wrk had cnsequences bth big and small. Mrris nw tk up exercise, handing his jacket t his daughter and just running. “Peple initially thught I went bananas.” But slwly, the rest f the wrld tk ff its jacket and fllwed.

    Why is it imprtant?
18 Scientists have discvered that sharing yur feelings prduces a feel-gd chemical in yur brain that makes yu feel relaxed and calm. Yur vice can make a big difference t ther peple t, including friends and families. Clements says, “Yu can spread kindness and happiness simply by speaking. With a few kind wrds, yu culd help smene feel gd abut themselves r let them knw they are supprted.” 19

故填as。

41.考查定语从句。句意:六堡茶产品的地理标志使其成为区域特产,有利于整个地区的发展。定语从句的先行词是整个主句 Liupa tea prducts gegraphical indicatin nw makes it a reginal specialty,在非限制性定语从句中作主语,所以用关系代词which引导。故填which。
故填its。
故填a。
