Harld Jnes, a 100-year-ld man, has been walking up t 40 circles every day in his garden since the beginning f 2020. At first, he just walked fr exercise. Nw, Jnes, wh uses a walker, is using his circles t help thers.

Scientists have mapped the largest cral reef (珊瑚礁)ff America’s Atlantic cast. Researchers say the reef spreads abut 500 kilmeters frm Flrida t Suth Carlina. At sme pints, it is 109 kilmeters wide. The researchers measured the reef using 3D mapping technlgy.
Ocean scientists have knwn since the 1960s that sme cral life was present ff the Atlantic Cast. But the reef’s exact size had remained unknwn. New underwater mapping technlgy made it pssible t create images f the cean flr in 3D.
The largest yet knwn deep cral reef “has been right under ur nses, waiting t be discvered,” said Derek Swers. He is an expert at the nnprfit grup Ocean Explratin Trust.
The reef was fund at cean depths frm 200 t 1,000 meters. Deep-sea life cannt use sunlight t carry ut phtsynthesis (光合作用). Instead, reef crals at extreme depths must get fd particles (颗粒)ut f the water fr energy.

Erik Crdes is a sea bilgist at Temple University and a c-writer f a study n the mapping peratin. He said deep reefs cver mre f the cean flr than trpical reefs. But bth are currently facing similar risks, including climate change and damage frm explring il and gas activities.
