Artemis is NASA's new lunar explratin prgram. Thrugh the Artemis prgram, NASA will use new technlgy t study the Mn in new and better ways, and prepare fr human missins t Mars.
NASA's new rcket will carry the Orin spacecraft t lunar rbit. Then, astrnauts will dck(对接) Orin at a small spaceship called Gateway, frm where the crew will take trips t the lunar surface in a new human landing system, and then return t Gateway. The crew will return t the Earth abard Orin. NASA will test the rcket and spacecraft in flight, and then send a crew fr a test flight :
Artemis 1 will be a test flight f the SLS rcket with the Orin spacecraft and with n crew.
Artemis 2 will launch the SLS rcket and Orin with a crew, which will fly past the Mn, then circle it and return t the Earth. This trip will be the farthest ne any human has experienced in space.
Artemis 3 will send a crew, including the first wman astrnaut and a black astrnaut, t the Mn by 2024. The Artemis 3 crew will visit the Mn's Suth Ple. N ne has ever been there.
    At the Mn, astrnauts will:
Search fr the Mn's water and use it.
Learn hw t live and wrk n the surface f anther celestial bdy (天体) where astrnauts are just three days' flight frm hme.
Test the technlgies we need befre sending astrnauts n missins t Mars, which can take an up-t-three-year rund trip.
The Mn is a gd place t learn new science. NASA will learn mre abut the Mn, the Earth and even the Sun. The Mn is a "test bed" fr Mars. The Mn is a place t shw that astrnauts will ne day be able t wrk away frm the Earth n Mars fr lng perids f time.

Televisin has transfrmed plitics in the United States by changing the way in which infrmatin is spread, by altering plitical campaigns, and by changing citizen’s patterns f respnse t plitics. By giving citizens independent access t the candidates, televisin reduced the rle f the plitical party in the selectin f the majr party candidates. By centering plitics n the persn f the candidate, televisin accelerated the citizen’s fcus n character rather than issues.
Televisin has altered the frms f plitical cmmunicatin as well. The messages n which mst f us rely are briefer than they nce were. The stump speech, a plitical speech given by traveling pliticians and lasting 1 t 2 hurs, which was ppular in the nineteenth-century, has given way t the 30-secnd advertisement and the 10 secnd “sund bite” in bradcast news. Increasingly the audience fr speeches is nt that standing in frnt f the plitician but rather the viewing audience wh will hear and see a shrt vide f the speech n the news.
In these simplified frms, much f what cmprised the traditinal plitical speech f earlier ages has been lst. In 15 r 30 secnds, a speaker cannt establish the histrical cntext that shaped the issue in questin, cannt detail the prbable causes f the prblem, and cannt examine alternative prpsals t argue that ne is preferable t thers. In shrt vides, pliticians assert (断言) but d nt argue.
Because televisin is an intimate (亲密的) medium, speaking thrugh it requires a changed plitical style that is mre cnversatinal, persnal, and visual than that f the ld-style stump speech. Reliance n televisin means that increasingly ur plitical wrld cntains memrable pictures rather than memrable wrds. Schls teach us t analyze wrds and print. Hwever, in a wrld in which plitics is increasingly visual, infrmed citizenship requires a new set f skills.
Recgnizing the pwer f televisin’s pictures, pliticians craft televisual, staged events designed t attract media cverage. Much f the plitical activity we see n televisin news has been crafted by pliticians, their speechwriters, and their public relatins advisers fr televised cnsumptin. Sund bites in news and answers t questins in debates increasingly sund like advertisements.
    28. What d we knw abut “stump speech” in paragraph 2?
    A. It’s an event created by pliticians t attract media attentin.
    B. It’s an interactive discussin between tw pliticians.
    C. It’s a kind f plitical presentatin typical f the nineteenth century.
    D. It’s a style f speech cmmn t televised plitical events.
    29. It is suggested in paragraph 4 that ________.
    A. pliticians need t learn t becme mre persnal
    B. attractive pliticians are favred by citizens
    C. citizens tend t favr a plitician wh analyzed issues
    D. citizens need t learn hw t evaluate visual plitical images
    30. What can we infer frm the passage?
    A. Plitical presentatins tday are mre like advertisements than in the past.
    B. Pliticians tday tend t be mre familiar with the views f citizens than in the past.
    C. Citizens tday are less infrmed abut a plitician’s character than in the past.
    D. Plitical speeches tday fcus mre n details abut issues than in the past.
    31. What’s the best title fr the passage?
    A. Televisin: an Agent f Change in Plitics
    B. Televisin: a Platfrm fr Plitical Debate
    C. Televisin: an Alternative t Stump Speech
    D. Televisin: a New Medium fr Cmmunicatin
    D
Despite all the effrts students make t graduate with a science majr, research has shwn that mst cllege science curses prvide students with nly a fragmented understanding f fundamental scientific cncepts. The teaching methd imprves memrizatin f separate facts, prceeding frm ne textbk chapter t the next withut necessarily making cnnectins between them.
With that in mind, we develped a series f crss-disciplinary activities. In ur mst recent study, we investigated hw well cllege students culd use their chemistry knwledge t explain real-wrld bilgical phenmena. T begin with, we interviewed 28 cllege students majring in sciences r engineering. All had taken bth intrductry chemistry and bilgy curses. We asked them t identify cnnectins between the cntent f these curses and what they believed t be the take-hme messages frm each curse. The students respnded with extensive lists f tpics, cncepts, and skills that they’d learned in class.
Fllwing that, a set f crss-disciplinary activities were designed t guide students in the use f cre chemistry ideas and knwledge t help explain real-wrld bilgical phenmena. One activity explred the impacts f cean acidificatin (酸化) n seashells. Here, the students were asked t use basic chemistry ideas t explain hw the increasing level f carbn dixide in sea water is affecting shell-building marine animals such as crals and ysters.
Overall, the students felt cnfident f their chemistry knwledge. Hwever, they had a harder time applying the same chemistry knwledge. The students in ur study als reprted that these activities helped them see links between the tw disciplines that they wuldn’t have perceived therwise. The ability t make these cnnectins is imprtant beynd the classrm as well, because it’s the basis f science literacy (素养). S we als came away with evidence that ur chemistry students at least wuld like t have the ability t have a deeper understanding f science and hw t apply it.
    32. What des the present science educatin fail t d accrding t the research?
    A. Extending students’ theretical knwledge.
    B. Invlving students in mre hands-n activities.
    C. Encuraging students t enjy the learning prcess.
    D. Helping students make crss-disciplinary cnnectins.
    33. What can we learn abut the student interviewees?
    A. They have rich academic knwledge.
    B. They pay little attentin t bilgy curses.
    C. They hardly identify the cre ideas f science.
    D. They fully understand the imprtance f their majrs.
    34. What shuld students d in the cean acidificatin activity?
    A. Analysing the exact cmpsitin f sea water.
    B. Studying sme unusual phenmena under the sea.
    C. Cming up with practical methds t prtect marine life.
    D. Explaining the effects f carbn dixide n certain sea animals.
    35. What des the authr see frm the result f the study?
    A. The challenges existed in chemistry curses.
    B. The need t remve the unfairness in educatin.
    C. The ptential t prmte students’ science literacy.
    D. The methd f increasing students’ practical skills.

Hw is this happening?” This student, like many I teach, believes she shuld be able t 42 the utcmes f her life by virtue f her hard wrk.
I study and write abut resilience (复原力), and I’m nticing a(n) 43 increase in students like this athlete. When they win, they feel pwerful and smart. When they fall shrt f what they imagine they shuld 44 , hwever, they are crushed by self-blame.

But a 2018 analysis fund that while praising hard wrk ver ability may benefit ecnmically disadvantaged students, it des nt 48 help everyne.
One pssible explanatin cmes frm Nina Kumar, wh argued in a research paper last year that fr teens in wealthy, pressure-cker cmmunities, “It is nt a 49 f mtivatin and perseverance that is the big prblem. 50 , it is unhealthy perfectinism and difficulty with backing ff when they shuld, when the fierce drive fr achievements is ver the tp.” This can 51 physical and emtinal stress. Yet fr thers, the belief that success is always within their grasp is a setup. Instead f allwing ur kids t beat themselves up when things dn’t g their way,we shuld all questin a culture that has taught them that hw they perfrm fr thers is mre imprtant than what 54 inspires them and that where they g t cllege matters mre than the kind f persn they are. We shuld be wise t remind ur kids that life has a way f disappinting us when we least 55 it. It’s ften the peple wh learn t say “stuff happens” wh get up the fastest.
