“Parrts are gd at mving arund in the trees,” says Michael Granatsky f the New Yrk Institute f Technlgy. But, he wndered, “What wuld happen if yu make them g nt the tiniest branch pssible?” S, researchers put fur parrts t the test. The birds placed n a hanging bar (杆) just 2. 5 millimeters in diameter (直径) realized that using their beaks and feet in a regular side-swinging mvement was the best way t mve alng it. With careful mvements that started and stpped, they culd travel abut 10 centimeters per secnd.

Using these readings, they better understd hw parrts can save energy while hanging nt thin branches.
