Have yu ever taken a flight frm Beijing Daxing Internatinal Airprt (BDIA)? After pening n Sept 25, BDIA drew attentin nt just fr cnvenient and envirnmentally friendly design, but als fr its many high-tech facilities and services.
The new airprt, seated in the suthernmst part f Beijing, is made up f a main terminal (航站楼), a supprting service building and a parking lt. Tgether, they cver an area f abut 1.4 millin square meters, which is equal t 63 Tian’anmen Squares, accrding t Beijing Review.
Designed by legendary Iraqi-British architect (建筑师) Zaha Hadid, The Daxing airprt’s technlgy fcuses n passengers’ safety and cnvenience.The airprt was designed in an expansive (扩展性的) way that makes it lk like a starfish. This kind f design als helps t shrten the walking distance fr passengers.
“It is nly 600 meters, r less than an eight-minute walk, frm the center f the terminal t the farthest barding gate in each wing,” said Gu Yanchi, the chief engineer.
The airprt has als been designed t be envirnmentally friendly. It uses natural light during the day. Thanks in part t 8,000 rftp windws, the sun’s rays (光线) can shine directly int the building.
There are less than 10,000 lights in the terminal. The intensity (强度) f the lights can be changed accrding t the temperature inside and hw many peple are in the building. The lights use 70 percent less pwer than the lights f the Beijing Capital Internatinal Airprt, which uses mre than 20,000 lights. The airprt has many new technlgies that make it smarter and mre efficient (有效率的). It is the wrld’s first airprt with a duble-deck departure and arrival (双进双出) design fr its terminal building. “It’s mre efficient fr passengers than any ther large airprt terminal f the same size in the wrld,” Gu Yanchi, the chief engineer in charge f cnstructin , tld China Daily.
Accrding t the Civil Aviatin Administratin f China, 86 percent f check-ins can be dne thrugh self- service check-in kisks (自助值机一体机) and 76 percent f luggage can be checked autmatically (自动地) with the help f self-service bag-drp machines.
