    Smith, wh began mdeling five years ag and wn The Face f Kurvacius Mdel Cmpetitin last year, was diagnsed (诊断) with retinitis pigmentsa (色素性视网膜炎) at the age f 12. The rare genetic cnditin wrsened her visin.
    She explained that there were few visually damaged rle mdels in the public field. And while the first New Yrk fashin shw starring blind mdels tk the stage in 2016, visually damaged mdels still dn’t have a larg presence in fashin.

    The brain functin f very late risers and “mrning larks (早睡早起的人)” during the hurs f the wrking day is different, accrding t a study.
    Researchers scanned the brains f night wls (夜猫子) with a bedtime f 02:30 and awake time f 10:15, alng with early risers. The tests perfrmed between 08:00 and 20:00 fund night wls had less cnnectivity in brain areas linked t keeping cnsciusness. They were mre likely t be scatterbrained and they als had slwer reactins and increased sleepiness.
    Scientists tk 38 peple wh were either night wls r mrning larks (peple wh went t bed just befre 23:00 and wke at 06:30) and studied their brain functin at rest. The vlunteers then carried ut a series f tasks at varius times, frm 08:00 t 20:00, and were asked t reprt n their levels f sleepiness.
    Mrning larks were least sleepy and had their fastest reactin time in the early mrning tests. They were als fund t perfrm significantly better at this time than night wls. In cntrast, night wls were least sleepy and bad their fastest reactin time at 20:00, althugh they did nt d significantly better an the larks at this time.
    The brain cnnectivity in the areas that predicted better perfrmance and lwer sleepiness was significantly higher in larks at all time pints, suggesting cnnectivity in late risers is impaired (减弱的) thrughut the whle wrking day, researchers said.
    The lead researcher, Dr Elise Facer-Childs, f the University f Birmingham’s Centre fr Human Brain Health, said the findings “culd be partly driven by the fact that night wls tend t cmprmise thrughut their lives.” He added, “Night wls during schl have t get up earlier, then they-g int wrk and they have t get up earlier, s they’re cnstantly in cnflict.”
