A new study by a researcher at the Italian Institute f Technlgy has fund that in fact it’s pssible fr rbts t fl us here and there, they are just less perfect than human. Inspired by the Turing Test, Agnieszka Wykwska came up with an experiment using a child-sized human-like rbt called iCub. Sitting in frnt f a screen, the peple in the test were asked t press a buttn when a green bx appeared n the screen, hwever, iCub nly respnded t red bxes Wykwska prgrammed the rbt t take different lengths f time t respnd, just like a persn wuld. Afterwards, the humans were asked t judge whether they had been cmpeting with a machine r a persn accrding t the time f the buttins being pressed—and they culdn’t tell. Wykwska believes that making rbts have mre human respnses is the key t making better rbts and creating mre trust between humans and rbts.
In anther study with iCub, the rbt and a human watched special vides f animals. In the first set f tests, iCub greeted the persn, asked fr his name and kept eye cntact with its camera “eyes”.
