But after struggling fr a few days, I decided t practice at schl. Thrughut my time at the private schl, I was determined t find every available pian rm n campus. After discvering hidden pians in crners, I spent cuntless hurs practicing. As my exam drew near, the music teachers knew exactly where t find me.
One day, while practicing in a pian rm, ne f my teachers walked in and ffered me a mini exam. T my surprise, she was impressed by my prgress and ffered valuable feedback n hw t imprve my technique. My hard wrk and dedicatin paid ff. Behind the pian, I fund a place where I culd be anyne.
Playing the pian became my escape frm the anxieties f adlescence and allwed me t express myself freely. When it was time t play in frnt f the examiner, I n lnger feared judgment. Instead, I nly feared nt being able t represent all my hard wrk. As the lights came n, I thught abut the incredible jurney that brught me t that mment.
Eventually, I received my mark. Nt nly did I achieve a rarely given “well dne”, but I als discvered a newfund appreciatin fr music. It’s been nearly tw decades since the traditinal clthing style Hanfu first started t reemerge in China. Since then it has gne frm a small cultural mvement celebrating an ancient fashin t a trend that is bming n scial media, having been adpted by China’s Generatin Z as a means f cnnecting with their past. In the recent New Year’s Eve gala presented by Bilibili, it attracted mre than 100 millin views within 48 hurs with a clurful set f prgrammes ranging frm Peking Opera t classical Chinese cartns. The same is als true f mvie industry. Last year, fr the first time, the tp 10 mst viewed films in China were all dmestic films, while the ticket sales fr imprted films have drpped t nly 16.28 percent.
Generatin Z grew up with the rapid develpment f China and under gd ecnmic cnditins. With the develpment f the Chinese Internet industry, they have mre access t diverse internatinal infrmatin and culture, which bring them a much brader visin and makes them mre pen and cnfident in analyzing freign culture. “Apart frm taking pride in China’s rapid develpment, this generatin als pursues individuality and values devtin t the cuntry,” Prfessr Zhang Yiwu said.
He als nted that the ppular rck and punk culture pursued by the 70s and 80s generatin is mre f a challenge against real life and lcal culture. Sme peple wh were brn in the 1970s and 1980s did nt grw up in the Internet age—they experienced the transfrmatin f China ging frm pr t rich first-hand. This kind f lnging and admiratin f the West came frm a lack f cnfidence.
Hwever, Generatin Z nw have the cnfidence t lk at Western culture with equal status. This kind f cultural cnfidence will result in China being mre active and creative in its develpment n the internatinal stage in the future.

Actr Justin Baldni nce remarked that “Girls are weak, and bys are strng”, a message that has uncnsciusly influenced millins f children, including himself. As a child, Justin desperately sught acceptance frm thers, causing him t pretend t be strng when he was weak and cnfident when he was insecure. But is this a healthy way t live?
Unfrtunately, sme peple believe s. They prpse t “prevent the feminizatin f male yuths” and request that schls hire mre physical educatin teachers t cultivate manliness in students. Hwever, this idea has sparked a heated debate nline, with many arguing that it reinfrces gender steretypes.
But what exactly is manliness, and why is it s cntrversial? At its cre, “manliness” refers t qualities traditinally assciated with men, such as strength, curage, and emtinal cntrl. Hwever, these seemingly admirable qualities can be taken t unrealistic extremes. Bys are human and shuld nt be blindly asked t cntrl their emtins “like a man” as it can lead t lng-term psychlgical damage.
As an educatr with years f experience teaching in China, I believe that physical educatin is essential fr students, nt just fr physical fitness but als t develp lifelng skills such as leadership and cmmunicatin. Hwever, fcusing slely n manliness as a reasn fr ding s is misguided. It is unnecessary fr all bys t build up their muscles, but it is crucial that they learn t be strng n the inside. Bys shuld be allwed t cry and shw their vulnerability withut fear f judgment.
Instead, schls ught t priritize imparting essential life skills and values t students, rather than reinfrcing utdated steretypes. As the Chinese state bradcaster CCTV put it, “Educatin is nt simply abut cultivating men and wmen. It's mre imprtant t develp a willingness t take respnsibility.” It is time t mve beynd harmful gender nrms and embrace a mre pen and diverse apprach t educatin.
    12. Why did yung Justin Baidni pretend t be smene he wasn’t?
    A. He lnged t be acknwledged as a real man. B. It was secure and safe fr him t d s.
    C. He was trying t be strng and cnfident.
    D. It was necessary fr an actr t be manly and tugh.
    13. What’s the harm in expecting bys t cntrl their emtins “like a man”?
    A. It can weaken gender steretypes. B. It can make them weak and insecure.
    C. It will bring abut lng-lasting inner wunds
    D. It will prevent them develping their emtinal cntrl.
    14. What can we learn frm the passage?
    A. Manliness is ut f date. B. Manliness is veremphasized.
