Luis Pasteur（1822-1895）, a famus French scientist, made big discveries in medicine, chemistry, and industry. He was the first scientist t believe that life culd cme nly frm life. His research shwed that tiny germs（细菌）spread diseases, and the spread f the germs culd be cntrlled. With this knwledge, humans were able t save many lives.
Pasteur discvered a way t make milk, wine, and fd safe. The methd, knwn as pasteurizatin, was named after him. One day, a winemaker had bad-tasting wine and asked Pasteur fr help. Pasteur fund that the bad-tasting wine had sme unusual germs. If he killed these germs, maybe he culd keep the wine frm turning terrible. After trying different ways t kill the germs, he fund heating the wine seemed t wrk best. Later, Pasteur fund ut that by heating these fds and freeing them frm harmful germs, they culd be better kept. The heat kills the germs that spread diseases.
Pasteur als helped greatly in medicine. In the summer f 1885, nine-year-ld Jseph was attacked by a sick dg with rabies, a very dangerus disease. There was n medicine fr rabies at that time. Luckily, Pasteur was studying abut the germs that cause rabies. He believed that he had a medical methd fr rabies, but he never gave it t a persn befre.
