As was planned, ur relatives frm France came t visit us that Christmas. It was a time when the family bnd gt strengthened. I shared the prized ty car with Alex, my yung French cusin. Eyes glued t it, he fell in lve with the wnderful, shiny red autmbile the instant he saw it. It was a rare mment t see him feeling s relieved and happy. He’d been unlucky s far in life, suffering severe, life-threatening illnesses as a child, leaving him mentally and physically stuck and the family starved f cash. Of curse, such lvely tys like my dear mdel car were unreachable dreams fr him.
Seeing Alex’s cnsuming thrill brught by the red car, I was seized by immense jy as well.But cntrary t Alex’s excitement, a vice inside me cnstantly reminded, “Watch ut! He’d keep it fr himself.”, which gt me faintly wrried. I fllwed my cusin fr fear f smething.
My mther als nticed Alex’s fndness fr the car. Appraching me, she asked gently in a lw vice, “Wuld yu like t give it t Alex?”
