动词-ing形式作表语：动名词作表语和现在分词作表语。1. 动名词作表语：抽象的一般性的行为，说明主语的内容，与主语常是同一概念。表语和主语常可互换位置。 e.g. Their duty is cleaning the windws every day.
【注意】动名词作表语时与进行时态中的现在分词形式相同，但意思不一样。动名词作表语：主语的性质或情况；现在分词作表语：主语正在进行的动作或所处的状态。e.g. Our wrk is watering these trees carefully. (表示主语的性质或情况，不是具体动作) We are watering these trees carefully. (现在分词帮助构成进行时,表示主语正在进行的动作)
2. 现在分词作表语相当于形容词，用来说明主语所做的动作的性质，现在分词后一般不再接任何成分。常见的用作形容词的现在分词有 surprising, interesting, amusing, bring, disappinting, exciting, pleasing等。 e.g. The utcme f the march was disappinting fr the families invlved. The atmsphere here is surprising. The reprt is very disturbing.

2. 现在分词作定语表示它所修饰的名词的动作或状态，与所修饰名词之间是逻辑上的主谓关系，相当于定语从句。1) 单个现在分词作定语时，多放在所修饰名词前。 e.g. The sleeping by is Tm.2) 现在分词短语作定语时，常放在所修饰名词后，可转换成定语从句。 e.g. The girl decrating the rm is my cusin. =The girl wh is decrating the rm is my cusin.
