And I’ve been s pleasantly surprised that my bdy is held up, everything is held up and I’ve made it t 104.”
She actually did nt pick up the sprt until after she lst the lwer part f her left leg in 2001 t a type f cancer called Ewing sarcma. Runners using a prsthetic leg can’t use a regular ne. They need a running blade (刀锋式跑步义肢). Hunt-Brersma has tw, but she was nly able t run with ne because f the swelling she experienced in her left leg that made it impssible t cnnect t the ther blade. But even with the pain that ccurred, she has been able t put up with it and cntinued.

A shcking 53.6 millin metric tns f electrnic waste was discarded last year, a new UN-backed reprt has revealed. The reprt shws that e-waste is up by 21% frm five years ag. This isn’t surprising, cnsidering hw many mre peple are adpting new technlgy and updating devices regularly t have the latest versins, but the reprt als shws that natinal cllectin and recycling strategies are nwhere clse t matching cnsumptin rates.
E-waste cntains materials including cpper (铜), irn, gld and silver, which the reprt gives a cnservative value f $ 57 billin. But mst are thrwn away r burned rather than being cllected fr recycling. Precius metals in waste are estimated t be wrth $ 14 billin, but nly $ 4 billin-wrth is recvered at the mment.
While the number f cuntries with natinal e-waste plicies has grwn frm 61 t 78 since 2014, there is little encuragement t bey and a mere 17% f cllected items are recycled. If recycling des ccur, it’s ften under dangerus cnditins, such as burning circuit bards t recver cpper, which “releases highly pisnus metals” and harms the health f wrkers.
The reprt fund that Asia has the highest amunts f waste verall, prducing 24.9 millin metric tns (MMT), fllwed by Eurpe at 12 MMT, Africa at 2.9 MMT, and Oceania at 0.7 MMT.
But whse respnsibility is it? Are gvernments in charge f setting up cllectin and recycling pints, r shuld cmpanies be respnsible fr recycling the gds they prduce? It ges bth ways. Cmpanies d need t be held accuntable by gvernment regulatins and have incentives t design prducts that are easily repaired. At the same time, gvernments need t make it easy fr citizens t access cllectin pints and deal with their brken electrnics in a cnvenient way. Otherwise, they may turn t the easiest ptin — the landfill.

A It des harm t the wrkers’ health.B. It lacks natinal plicy supprt.
C. It hardly makes prfits.D. It takes t much time.
31. Hw shuld the prblem be slved accrding t the passage?

Using X-rays t peer int the chemical structure f a tiny speck (微粒) f the celebrated wrk f art “Mna Lisa”, scientists have gained new insight int the techniques that Lenard da Vinci used t paint his grundbreaking prtrait f the wman with the exquisitely mysterius smile.
The research, published in the Jurnal f the American Chemical Sciety, suggests that the famusly curius, learned and inventive Italian Renaissance master may have been in a particularly experimental md when he set t wrk n the “Mna Lisa” early in the 16th century.
The il-paint methd Lenard used as his base layer appears t have been different fr the “Mna Lisa”, with its wn distinctive chemical signature, the team f scientists and art histrians in France and Britain discvered. “He was smene wh lved t experiment, and each f his paintings is cmpletely different technically,” said Victr Gnzalez, the study’s lead authr and a chemist at France’s tp research bdy, the CNRS. Gnzalez has studied the chemical cmpsitins f dzens f wrks by Lenard, Rembrandt and ther artists.
Specifically, the researchers fund a rare cmpund, plumbnacrite (水白铅矿) in Lenard’s first layer f paint. The discvery cnfirmed fr the first time what art histrians had previusly nly assumed: that Lenard mst likely used lead xide pwder t thicken and help dry his paint as he began wrking n the prtrait. Plumbnacrite is a byprduct f lead xide, allwing the researchers t say with mre certainty that Lenard likely used the pwder in his paint recipe. “Plumbnacrite is really a fingerprint f his recipe,” Gnzalez said, “It’s the first time we can actually chemically cnfirm it.”
After Lenard, Dutch master Rembrandt may have used a similar recipe when he was painting in the 17th century. “It als tells us that thse recipes were passed n fr centuries,” Gnzalez said, “It was a very gd recipe.” But the “Mna Lisa” and ther wrks by Lenard still have ther secrets t tell. “There are plenty, plenty mre things t discver, fr sure. We are barely scratching the surface,” Gnzalez said, “What we are saying is just a little brick mre in the knwledge.”
32. What kind f persn is Lenard da Vinci accrding t the new finding?
A. Adventurus and creative.B. Ambitius and generus.
C Intelligent and mysterius.D. Sensitive and inspiring.
33. What had art histrians suppsed earlier?
A. Rembrandt was fnd f imitating Lenard’s style.
B. It is mst likely that Lenard used t be a chemist.
C. The prtrait may have been dried in a special way when finished.
D. Lenard may have emplyed lead xide pwder in his wrk.
34. What can we infer accrding t Gnzalez?
A. It is necessary t scratch the surface f the “Mna Lisa”.
B. There is little pint in finding the chemicals in the prtrait.
C. The scientists have revealed Lenard’s technique thrughly.
D. There is a lng way t g fr a deep understanding f Lenard’s wrks.
35. What is the best title fr the text?
A. Pwerful Chemicals fr Painting
B. Lenard’s Experiments n Prtraits
C. The New Secret f the “Mna Lisa”
D. Far-reaching Influence f the “Mna Lisa”
