Making 2023 the 10th cnsecutive year that the remains f the Chinese Peple's Vlunteers (CPV) martyrs have been returned frm Suth Krea, 25 mre martyrs and their pssessins will be repatriated t China this week by Y-20 large transprt aircraft escrted by J-20 stealth fighter jets. Representatives frm the Hng Kng, Maca and Taiwan regins will be invited t attend this year's burial ceremny, aiming t further strengthen patritic educatin and fster a sense f natinal unity.
The Chinese Air Frce's Y-20 tk ff n Tuesday t pick up the 10th batch f natinal heres wh fught bravely in the War t Resist US Aggressin and Aid Krea (1950-53).
Upn returning n Thursday, tw J-20 stealth fighter jets will escrt the Y-20 after the latter enters Chinese airspace, accrding t China Central Televisin. With "duble 20s" flying high in the sky, Chinese are paying a unique tribute and heartfelt remembrance t the martyrs.
A burial ceremny will take place n Friday at the Cemetery fr Martyrs f the Chinese Peple's Vlunteers in Shenyang, Nrtheast China's Lianing Prvince, accrding t China's Ministry f Veterans Affairs.
As f last year, China has welcmed back frm Suth Krea the remains f 913 CPV martyrs wh died in the War t Resist US Aggressin and Aid Krea fr nine cnsecutive years, said Li Jingxian, a senir fficial at the Ministry f Veterans Affairs. Mre will cntinue t be transferred back t their hmeland as they are discvered, he nted.
China has made special arrangements this year upn the 70th anniversary f the victry f the War t Resist US Aggressin and Aid Krea.
Representatives frm Hng Kng and Maca special administrative regins as well as Taiwan island will als attend the ceremny with an aim t further strengthen patritic educatin and unite natinal sentiments.
The pssessins f the martyrs have all been carefully managed after measurement, phtgraphy and registratin. Electrnic archives have been established and assigned t specific persnnel fr prper safekeeping.
Meanwhile, the martyrs' items are being displayed in varius exhibitins, depicting the arduus jurney f the war and prmting the unyielding spirit f the CPV.
"In recent years, we have been analyzing the habits, hbbies, and stries behind the martyrs' belngings while rganizing them, with the aim t recreate the riginal battlefield and depict the living cnditins and war scenes f CPV sldiers," Li said.
Elabrating n family tracing fr the martyrs, Li nted that relevant effrts have been launched since 2020. Currently, the DNA identificatin f all the 913 remains has been cmpleted acrss the nine batches. By cmbining the relics, histry, and the DNA results, active effrts are being made t find their relatives and reunite them with their families.
China and Russia sent delegatins t Nrth Krea in July t mark the 70th anniversary f the armistice f the Krean War.

Prfessinal rck climber Emily Harringtn has made histry after successfully free climbing Ysemite Natinal Park's El Capitan n 4 Nvember 2020.
Harringtn, 34, became the furth persn — and the first wman — t ever scale the 3,000-ft El Capitan withut the help f a rpe r ther equipment. "The peple befre me wh have achieved this are kind f like sme f my heres in rck climbing," she said, "s it feels pretty special t jin that grup."

Harringtn said she's hpeful that her jurney has inspired thers. "I hpe that as a result f my stry mre peple will get t experience climbing, r at least try."
Harringtn previusly scaled Mt. Qmlangma, the tallest muntain in the wrld. As a frmer member f the USA climbing team, Harringtn has cmpeted in five U.S. sprt climbing champinships and tw Nrth American champinships.
