Billinaire Eln Musk n Wednesday annunced that he has frmed a new artificial intelligence(AI) cmpany, xAI, which has emplyed researchers frm Ggle, OpenAI and ther tp technlgy cmpanies. The gal, Musk tweeted, is “t understand reality.”
xAI is a separate cmpany frm Musk’s ther businesses, such as Tesla and Twitter, but will wrk clsely with them, accrding t the new cmpany’s website.
Musk isn’t a nvice t AI since Tesla uses the technlgy in its cars. While xAI didn’t mentin what prjects it will be wrking n, the cmpany nted that its team f 11 researchers are drawn frm tp tech cmpanies such as Micrsft Research, OpenAI and Ggle.

All these pigs are being mved arund and we really have n idea what’s happening with them,” said James Beasley, senir authr f a new study.
Researchers made the study at the Savannah River Site utside Aiken, Suth Carlina. Because the area cvers mre than 310 square miles, Beasley said the researchers culd mve pigs t new lcatins within the area and still feel cnfident they were in an unfamiliar place. Suth Carlina law prhibits mving wild pigs unless they remain in the same area.
After catching a pig and fitting it with a GPS tracker, the researchers mved it t anther lcatin, usually at least 10 miles away, and tracked its mvements ver several mnths. The trackers shwed the pigs were able t cver a lt f grund within a shrt time. Over a seven-day perid, n average, the wild pigs wuld make sweeping paths acrss the landscape, seldm returning t their riginal drp-ff pint and ften finally ending up several miles away.
The researchers als fund that nt lng after being released the wild pigs hked up with ther pigs in the area—smetimes jining an existing scial grup f pigs and ther times creating new grups f relcated individuals.
In ne example, tw pigs frm the same grup were released mre than a mile apart. “They started mving in different directins. Then, ne seemed t crss the path f the ther ne and fund that pig,” Beasley said. “They have this really extrardinary scial bnd.” Mre study is needed t understand hw these scial bnds frm, but it’s clear that wild pigs are willing t accept unrelated individuals within their scial grup.
Infamus fr the damage they cause t crps and landscapes, the research shws the ptential fr prblems when wild pigs are relcated and the ptential risks f them spreading diseases such as African swine fever when they are mved arund the landscape. In the first stage f the research, the researchers surgically attached three-mnth-ld mice t twenty-mnth-ld mice s that bld culd flw between them. Over three mnths, the bilgical age f the yunger mice increased while they shared bld with the lder mice. But after the yunger mice were separated and allwed t recver fr tw mnths, their bilgical age fell nce again.
Then, the researchers lked at human DNA frm bld samples gathered in previus studies t measure hw human bdies react t stress.
In ne stage, the researchers examined bld samples frm elderly patients. Patients wh had received emergency surgery fr a fractured hip (髋部骨折) had an increased bilgical age the mrning after the prcedure, but it returned t pre-surgery levels fur t seven days later. Researchers made the study at the Savannah River Site utside Aiken, Suth Carlina. Then, ne seemed t crss the path f the ther ne and fund that pig,” Beasley said. “They have this really extrardinary scial bnd.” Mre study is needed t understand hw these scial bnds frm, but it’s clear that wild pigs are willing t accept unrelated individuals within their scial grup.
