Scientists in Nrway (挪威) have created an underwater rbt that can tell different kinds f pllutin at the bttm f the sea. The rbt will help clean-up teams find the rubbish and give them a chance t remve (去除) the things that can cause the mst harm t the envirnment.
The rbt, which weighs nearly 100 punds and uses special cameras t take 3D pictures, was created by a team at Skarv Technlgies (矽卡岩技术).
The researchers put their wrk t the test at a lake in the city f Bergen, n Nrway’s suthwest cast. First, the rbt swam up and dwn in rws at abut six feet (英尺) abve the lake bed, cllecting infrmatin with the special camera. Then a cmputer turned the infrmatin int a map, which shwed different kinds f rubbish in different clrs.
A ttal f 3,894 bjects were fund in the lake and divided int different kinds. “There’s t much rubbish,” a member f the Skarv Technlgies team tld New Scientist. “There’s smewhere arund 165 t 300 tns f rubbish in the lake.”
It is nt always pssible fr clean-up teams t remve all the rubbish they find underwater because there is smething mre imprtant t clean. The rbt will be used t help the teams find the mst harmful things, and spend their time, effrts and mney in remving them first. “Glass isn’t really plluting,” said Fssum. “S if yu knw there’s an area with a lt f glass, yu prbably can ignre (忽视) that.
