Musk suggested that the reasn he picked July 12, 2023, t annunce the start f xAI is cnnected with a science fictin (科幻小说) classic, Duglas Adams’ “The Hitchhiker’s Guide t the Galaxy.” In his tweet, he nted that adding the date 7-12-23 equals 42, which the wrk f the fictin famusly assumes is the answer t life.
“The gal f xAI is t understand the true nature f the universe,” the xAI website states.
The cmpany said it will be advised by Dan Hendrycks, directr f the Center fr AI Safety. Hendrycks pinted ut where AI culd cause prblems. “AIs culd be used by bad peple t make new deadly biweapns (生物武器),” Hendrycks said in May. “Or peple culd make AI that tries t hurt peple n purpse. If this AI was really smart, it culd be a big danger t all f us.”

While mst states have laws that prhibit relcating wild pigs, the practice still happens, and is ne f the main factrs cntributing t the recent increase in pig numbers acrss the United States. “That’s why we did the study. All these pigs are being mved arund and we really have n idea what’s happening with them,” said James Beasley, senir authr f a new study.
Researchers made the study at the Savannah River Site utside Aiken, Suth Carlina. Because the area cvers mre than 310 square miles, Beasley said the researchers culd mve pigs t new lcatins within the area and still feel cnfident they were in an unfamiliar place. Suth Carlina law prhibits mving wild pigs unless they remain in the same area.
After catching a pig and fitting it with a GPS tracker, the researchers mved it t anther lcatin, usually at least 10 miles away, and tracked its mvements ver several mnths. The trackers shwed the pigs were able t cver a lt f grund within a shrt time. Over a seven-day perid, n average, the wild pigs wuld make sweeping paths acrss the landscape, seldm returning t their riginal drp-ff pint and ften finally ending up several miles away.
The researchers als fund that nt lng after being released, the wild pigs hked up with ther pigs in the area—smetimes jining an existing scial grup f pigs and ther times creating new grups f relcated individuals.
In ne example, tw pigs frm the same grup were released mre than a mile apart. “They started mving in different directins. Then, ne seemed t crss the path f the ther ne and fund that pig,” Beasley said. “They have this really extrardinary scial bnd.” Mre study is needed t understand hw these scial bnds frm, but it’s clear that wild pigs are willing t accept unrelated individuals within their scial grup.
Infamus fr the damage they cause t crps and landscapes, the research shws the ptential fr prblems when wild pigs are relcated and the ptential risks f them spreading diseases such as African swine fever when they are mved arund the landscape. Beasley said, “This type f infrmatin is imprtant t develping management plans fr respnding t new intrductins f pig ppulatins.”
28. Why did the researchers carry ut the study n wild pigs?
A. T study their sudden ppulatin increase.B. T imprve their survival after relcatins.
C. T manage their daily activities.D. T understand their mvement behavir.
29. What did the trackers find ut abut the wild pigs?
A. They came back t their familiar places.B. They explred the new area a lt.
C. They stayed near their release lcatins.D. They mved in the same directin.
30. What des the example tell us abut the wild pigs?
A. They were very lnely.B. They were very curius.
C. They were very sciable.D. They were very cmpetitive.
31. What is Beasley’s attitude t relcating wild pigs?

Stress can cause physical impacts t the bdy, such as increased heart rate and bld pressure, the release f adrenaline and crtisl (肾上腺素和皮质醇). If adrenaline and crtisl levels are increased fr an extended perid f time, that can damage DNA and cells.
In a new paper, published in April in the jurnal Cell Metablism, researchers described hw they measured bilgical age by lking fr changes in DNA’s structure cnnected t aging.
In the first stage f the research, the researchers surgically attached three-mnth-ld mice t twenty-mnth-ld mice s that bld culd flw between them. Over three mnths, the bilgical age f the yunger mice increased while they shared bld with the lder mice. But after the yunger mice were separated and allwed t recver fr tw mnths, their bilgical age fell nce again.
Then, the researchers lked at human DNA frm bld samples gathered in previus studies t measure hw human bdies react t stress.
In ne stage, the researchers examined bld samples frm elderly patients. Patients wh had received emergency surgery fr a fractured hip (髋部骨折) had an increased bilgical age the mrning after the prcedure, but it returned t pre-surgery levels fur t seven days later. Hwever, the researchers did nt find the same effect in patients wh had undergne elective hip surgery r clrectal (结肠直肠的) surgery.
The team als lked at patients wh had been hspitalized with Cvid-19, but these results varied by sex. While the bilgical age f female patients drpped within tw weeks f recvery, that f men did nt.
“The study lked at bilgical age bth befre and after stressful events. There are just very, very few studies that have lked at these clcks befre and after sme kind f interventin (干预),” Daniel Belsky, a medical scientist at Clumbia University wh did nt participate in the study, tells The Scientist.
The study shws that bilgical age is “much mre dynamic than peple previusly thught,” Jesse Pganik, a c-authr f the study, tells Live Science. “Yu can have these very severe stress events, which increase bilgical age, but it can be shrt-lived, if the stress is shrt-lived, then the age can be restred.”
32. What did the researchers find abut the bilgical age f the yunger mice?
A. It increased during bld sharing.
B. It culd be restred by bld sharing.
C. It drpped when they were attached t the lder mice.
D. It returned t pre-sharing levels as sn as they were separated.
33. Wh experienced a decrease in bilgical age after recvery?
A. Thse wh had had fractured hip surgery.
B Thse wh had received clrectal surgery.
C. Thse wh had undergne elective hip surgery.
D. Thse wmen wh had been hspitalized with Cvid-19.
34. What des Belsky want t stress abut the study?
A. It stands ut in similar studies.B. It is truly remarkable.
C. It has sme limitatins.D. It is influential.
35. Which is the mst suitable title fr the text?
