Crk then placed her in the rm she had nt liked as much at first. After anther 20 minutes, Crk returned her t her hme cntainer.
Finally, abut five hurs later, Crk brught the ctpus back t the rms and gave her an alternative: return t the riginally preferred rm, where she was kept with an aching arm, r g t the ne she had nt liked as much but where she was numb. Crk ran the experiment with seven ctpuses. They all chse t g t the nn-preferred rm. As a cntrl, Crk put salt water int seven ther ctpuses. Unlike the experimental grup, thse ctpuses returned t their riginally preferred rm.
It turned ut the ctpuses related the rm they had nce liked better t the ache they felt the last time they were there. Then they cmpared that experience with their typical pain-free state and decided that hw they usually felt was better. Using that infrmatin, the ctpuses chse t g t the nn-preferred rm. “There’s a lt f brain prcessing that has t happen,” Crk says.

Humans and hrses have enjyed strng wrking relatinships fr nearly 10,000 years. Can these age-ld relatinships teach us smething abut building rbts? Researchers at the University f Flrida carried ut research and said yes. “As we wrk t imprve hw humans cmmunicate with rbts, I thught why nt learn frm ur partnership with hrses t help slve the prblem f natural interactin (互动) between humans and rbts?” said Eakta Jain, an assciate prfessr f cmputer and infrmatin science and engineering.
Lking at ur histry with animals t help shape ur future with rbts is nthing new. But Jain and her clleagues are the first t bring tgether engineering and rbt researchers and hrse experts and trainers t d n-the grund field studies with the animals.

“Sme f the findings are easy t visualize (可视化), while thers are nt very specific,” Jain said. “Fr example, we learned that a hrse speaks with its bdy. Yu can see its ears pinting t where smething caught its attentin. We culd build similar types f expressins withut speech in ur rbts, like ears that pint t smething visual in the car when there’s a persn walking n that side f the street.”
A grundbreaking finding is the sense f respect. When a trainer wrks with a hrse, he lks fr signs f respect frm the hrse fr its human partner. “We dn’t typically think abut respect in the situatin f human-rbt interactin,” Jain says. “Can we design behavirs similar t what the hrse uses? The researcher remved the ctpus 20 minutes later and used lidcaine t numb (使麻木) her arm.(当动物醒来时手臂疼痛,克鲁克把她留在她以前喜欢的房间里。
根据划线词后文“return t the riginally preferred rm, where she was kept with an aching arm, r g t the ne she had nt liked as much but where she was numb”可知,章鱼可以回到章鱼一开始选择的但后来留给她痛苦记忆的房间,或是去她不太喜欢,但没有感觉的房间。
根据第三段“Finally, abut five hurs later, Crk brught the ctpus back t the rms and gave her an alternative: return t the riginally preferred rm, where she was kept with an aching arm, r g t the ne she had nt liked as much but where she was numb. Crk ran the experiment with seven ctpuses. They all chse t g t the nn-preferred rm.(最后,大约五个小时后,克鲁克把章鱼带回了房间,并给了它两个选择:要么回到原来喜欢的房间,在那里她的手臂疼痛,要么去她不太喜欢的房间,在那里她没有感觉。
根据最后一段“Crk’s study suggests that there shuld be mre fcus n the welfare f ctpuses. Due t peple’s ignrance, animals like ctpuses are nt prperly prtected in bth research and industry in the U.S. Luckily, Crk’s findings, giving us mre insights int them, have led t increased prtectin fr ctpuses.(克鲁克的研究表明,应该更多地关注章鱼的福利。 故选A。

20.根据后文“Yu need t fcus n yur mental health as well.
