Antine Craig, a blind athlete, has been blind since 2010. He gradually lst his sight due t a genetic disease. Wrking thrugh difficulties, Craig says, he has fund his value. “Once I lst my eyesight, I began the prcess f rediscvering myself.” he says.

Memrial Park in Hustn, Texas was halved by the Memrial Drive Highway in the1950s. It has nw been reunited. The highway is still there, but the rad ges underneath the 1,500-acre park.

Antine Craig, a blind athlete, has been blind since 2010. He gradually lst his sight due t a genetic disease. Wrking thrugh difficulties, Craig says, he has fund his value. “Once I lst my eyesight, I began the prcess f rediscvering myself.” he says.

Since the rise in car wnership in the 1950s, the US has started building rads in cities and acrss the cuntry t prvide enugh rm fr autmbiles. Hustn, like many cities, is turning back the clck t make rm fr passers-by, cyclists and parks.
Memrial Park in Hustn, Texas was halved by the Memrial Drive Highway in the1950s. It has nw been reunited. The highway is still there, but the rad ges underneath the 1,500-acre park.
The restratin (修复) f Memrial Park is part f a larger plan that was made after the city suffered frm a serius drught. It was thught that 80 percent f the frested canpy (树冠) was dead. One f the ways t fight that was t reintrduce native plants and animals.
The city hired the landscape architectural cmpany, Nelsn Byrd Wltz Landscape Architects, t wrk with the Hustn parks and the Memrial Parks Cnservancy. The architects, led by Wltz, were inspired by wildlife crssings in the Nrthwest US and explred the pssibility f using this idea in Memrial Park. Over the years, the park was cut int 20 pieces that were divided by highways, rads and parking lts. The nly crssing was a 12-ft bridge.
After 10 years f planning and cnstructing, the Kinder Land Bridge fficially pened in early February, 2023. The bridge cnsists f 100 acres f greenery, and while designed fr peple, has recnnected wildlife crridrs (廊道).
