This prject, which surveyed the language resurces f 1,712 lcatins including 103 with endangered Chinese dialects, has helped China successfully build the largest language resurce library in the wrld. The nline library nt nly meets the needs f prfessinal researchers but als enables the public t access ver 5.6 millin audi files and ver 5 millin vide files fr their dialect learning.
When it cmes t the reasn, Dr. Zhang, chief expert n CLRPP, nce expressed his cncerns in an article. “Fr abut ver a decade, in Wu dialect areas, children aged 6 t 15 can understand but hardly speak the dialect. Yung peple abve 15 years ld smetimes speak it, but nt fluently, Zhang said. “If this cntinues, dialects will disappear in a few decades. Previusly, c-senir authr Richa Sexena at Massachusett s General Hspital (MGH) and his clleagues used many databases f genetic and lifestyle infrmatin t study ther aspects f sleep. T gain a better understanding f the genetics f napping, they perfrmed a genme (基因组)-wide assciatin study (GWAS), which includes rapid scanning f cmplete sets f DNA f a large number f peple.
Fr this study, the researchers used data frm the UK Bibank, which includes genetic infrmatin frm 452,633 peple. All the participants were asked t classify their naps during the day as “never/rarely”, “smetimes” r “usually”. The GWAS identified 123 regins in the human genme cnnected with daytime napping. Then the participants wre activity mnitrs called accelermeters, which can prvide data abut daytime napping. This data als shwed that the self-reprts abut napping were accurate.
Several ther features f this study supprt its results. Fr example, the researchers btained similar findings in an analysis f the genmes f 541,333 peple cllected by 23andMe, a cnsumer genetic-testing cmpany. Als, a significant number f the genes near r at regins identified by the GWAS are already knwn t play a rle in sleep.
The team als identified at least three ptential mechanisms (机制) that prmte napping. Sme peple need mre shut-eye than thers. A daytime nap can help make up fr pr-quality sleep the night befre. Peple wh rise early may “catch up” n sleep with a nap. “This tells us that daytime napping is bilgically driven and nt just an envirnmental r behaviral chice,” says Dashti.
