Zhang Zening, a hanfu supprter and lver in Nanjing, East China’s Jiangsu Prvince, started a surprising jurney eight years ag t restre (使复原)
this traditinal Chinese clthing. Inspired by ancient murals (壁画), Zhang, 41, studied the artistry f hanfu in varius museums, changing paintings int
tuchable and wearable pieces.
Upn graduating frm cllege, Zhang first wrked in material research, burying herself in the labratry, cnducting chemical experiments fr the
study f raw materials. At the time, she was ne f the earliest lvers f hanfu in China, frequently rganizing varius hanfu activities in her spare time.
Nw as the wner f a hanfu studi, Zhang has wrked with wmen’s re-emplyment rganizatins, lking fr full-time stay-at-hme wmen with

Arund 2015, Zhang began t fcus independently n the prcess f hanfu restratin. In that year, she visited Dunhuang, Nrthwest China’s

In the past years, she has traveled t mre than 10 cities acrss China, cnstantly studying murals and cnducting research t restre hanfu frm
different dynasties. She managed t restre mre than 50 sets. She referred t different materials including varius murals, ther cultural relics and

ccasinal earthquakes. Batmanathan is wrking t map the faults, as well as the infrastructure (基础设施) in the area f the faults, t hpefully reduce
the ptential damage that can be caused by an earthquake. Develpers and engineers can use this knwledge t plan where it is safest t build and
where earthquake-resistant structures are needed.
