Curiusly, I glanced in the directin f the nise, nly t discver a squirrel hurrying twards my bag. Immediately, I reached ut t prtect my bag frm the thief. But the squirrel ran away, grasping a chclate bar stlen frm my bag. Fueled by determinatin t get my snack back, I gave chase t the creature thrugh the park.
The squirrel displayed impressive flexibility, effrtlessly jumping nt trees and leaping frm branch t branch. Children and bystanders culdn’t help but laugh at the spectacle f a grwn adult chasing a squirrel. The chase cntinued , and as I ran after the squirrel, I became bth exhausted and awkward. The peacefulness f the park transfrmed int a lively playgrund, with laughter eching arund us. The squirrel, seemingly aware f its cmical effect, increased its speed and finally vanished int thin air.
As I made my way back t the bench, my heart still raced frm the pursuit. I culdn’t help but feel a sense f cmpaninship with the squirrel. It had reminded me t embrace the unexpected, t break free frm rutine, and mst imprtantly, t find jy in life’s simplest pleasures. Frm that day frward, whenever I visit the park, I always keep a chclate bar handy, just in case I cme acrss my friend.

Accrding t a new study frm Crnell University, abut ne-fifth f the glbal ppulatin, f 2 billin peple wrldwide, will be frced t resettle r g deeper inland by 2100 due t the cntinuus rise in sea level.
The study, published in the jurnal Land Use Plicy, shwed that the grwing glbal ppulatin culd make the matter wrse. The researchers expected that there are abut 1.4 billin “climate change refugees” in the wrld by 2060 and by 2100 the number f the displaced peple due t the rising sea level culd reach up t tw billin.
“We’re ging t have mre peple n less land and sner than we think,” said lead authr Charles Geisler, prfessr at Crnell. “The future rise in glbal average sea level prbably wn’t be gradual. Yet few plicy makers are bserving the significant barriers that castal climate refugees, like ther refugees, will run int when they mve t higher grund.”
Fr the study, the researchers reviewed ptential prblems that climate change refugees may face if they g deeper inland. The researchers identified these land difficulties with relcatin using three rganizing grups, including depletin znes, win-lse znes and n-trespass znes. By ding s, the researchers were able t prvide primary estimates f their tll n inland resettlement space. The researchers fund that sme inland regins were unlikely t supprt new waves f climate change refugees due t the remains f war, rad develpments and rare natural resurces.
Apart frm the rising sea level, increasing strm weather and the bming glbal ppulatin are als having a huge influence n the number f climate change refugees. Strm can push seawater further inland. The increasing glbal ppulatin requires mre land even as the cean swallws up rich cstal znes and river deltas(三角洲). These frce peple t search fr new places t mve t higher grund.
28.What wuld happen if the sea level were t rise?
A.2 billin peple wuld be “refugees” by 2060.
B.50% f the ppulatin wuld lse their hmes.
Inland regins wuld becme mre crwded.
D.Castal regins wuld be plluted seriusly.
29.What can be inferred frm Charles Geisler’s wrds?
A.The sea level will g up in a little-by-little way.
B.Mving t higher land isn’t the key slutin.
C.Land and ppulatin vary accrding t climate change.
D.Plicy makers shuld think mre fr climate change refugees.
30.Why d climate change refugees fail t mve t sme inland regins?
A.Because they can’t live a cmmn life there.
B.Because they can’t adapt t the climate there.
C.Because they may cnsume mre than expected.
D.Because they will destry the natural resurces.
31.What des the authr stress in the last paragraph?
    A.Glbal warming is a duble-edged swrd.
B.In the future climate will becme wrse.
C.The earth will see mre climate change refugees.
D.Sea will bring humans mre disadvantages.
    D
Vegetarians wuld rather nt be frced t eat meat. Yet the reverse cmpulsin is hidden in the prpsals fr a new plant-based “planetary diet.” Nwhere is this mre visible than in India.
Earlier this year, the EAT-Lancet Cmmissin released its glbal reprt n nutritin and called fr a glbal shift t a mre plant-based diet and fr “substantially reducing cnsumptin f animal surce fds.” In cuntries like India, that call culd becme a tl t aggravate an already tense plitical situatin and stress already undernurished ppulatins.
The EAT reprt assumes that “traditinal diets” in cuntries like India include little red meat, which might be cnsumed nly n special ccasins r as minr ingredients in mixed dishes.
In India, hwever, there is a vast difference between what peple wuld wish t cnsume and what they have t cnsume because f innumerable barriers arund class, religin, culture, cst, gegraphy, etc. Plicymakers in India have traditinally pushed fr a cereal-heavy “vegetarian diet” n a meat-eating ppulatin as a way f prviding the cheapest surces f fd.
Currently, under an aggressive Hindu natinalist gvernment, Muslims, Christians, disadvantaged classes and indigenus cmmunities are being cmpelled t give up their traditinal fds.
Nne f these cncerns seem t have been appreciated by the EAT-Lancet Cmmissin’s representative, Brent Lken, wh said “India has gt such a great example” in surcing prtein frm plants.
But hw much f a mdel fr the wrld is India’s vegetarianism? In the Glbal Hunger Index, the cuntry ranks 102nd ut f 117. Data frm the Natinal Family Health Survey indicate that nly 10 percent f infants f 6 t 23 mnths are adequately fed, which is why calls fr a plant-based diet mdeled n India risk ffering anther whip with which t beat already vulnerable cmmunities in develping cuntries.
A diet directed at the affluent West fails t recgnize that in lw-incme cuntries undernurished children are knwn t benefit frm the cnsumptin f milk and ther animal surce fds, imprving cgnitive functins, while reducing the prevalence f nutritinal deficiencies as well as death.
EAT-Lancet claimed its intentin was t “spark cnversatins” amng all Indian stakehlders. Yet vcal critics f the fd prcessing industry and fd frtificatin strategies have been left ut f the debate. But the mst cnspicuus(明显的) missin may well be the absence f India’s farmers.
32.What is mre visible in India than anywhere else accrding t the passage?
    A. Peple’s psitive views n the prpsals fr a “planetary diet”.
    B. Peple’s reluctance t be cmpelled t eat plant-based fd.
    C. Peple’s preferences fr the kind f fd they cnsume.
    D. Peple’s unwillingness t give up their eating habits.
    33. What wuld the EAT-Lancet Cmmissin’s reprt d t many peple in cuntries like India?
    A. Radically change their dietary habits.
    B. Keep them further away frm plitics.
    C. Make them even mre undernurished.
    D. Substantially reduce their fd chices.
34.What d we learn frm the passage abut fd cnsumptin in India?
    A. Peple’s diet will nt change due t the EAT-Lancet reprt.
    B. Many peple simply d nt have access t fds they prefer.
    C. There is a grwing ppularity f a cereal-heavy vegetarian diet.
    D. Plicymakers help remve the barriers t peple’s chice f fd.
What des the passage say abut a plant-based diet mdeled n India?
It may benefit ppulatins whse traditinal diet is meat-based.
It may be anther blw t the ecnmy in develping cuntries.
It may wrsen the nurishment prblem in lw-incme cuntries.
It may help narrw the gap between the rich and pr cuntries.
