一、动词不定式、动词 -ing 形式、过去分词作表语
1. 不定式作表语一般表示具体的动作,特别是表示将来的动作。

2. 如果主语是不定式(表示条件),表语也应用不定式(表示结果)。
Eg. T see is t believe. 百闻不如一见。
3. 如果主语是以aim,duty,hpe,idea,happiness,jb,plan,prblem,purpse,thing,wish 等为中心词的名词词组,或以 what 引导的名词性分句表示,作表语的不定式对主语起补充说明作用。
如果主语部分包含动词 d,did,des,dne,作表语的不定式可省略 t。

二、动词 –ing 形式作表语
1. 动词 -ing 形式作表语,表示抽象的一般性的行为。

2. 动词 –ing 形式作表语,说明主语的性质或情况,这时的动词 -ing 形式大多已经转化成了形容词。
Eg. His victry in the final was n mre cnvincing than I had expected.他在决赛中的胜利没有我想象的那么令人信服。
过去分词在句中作表语多表示主语所处的状态或是主语的心理,这时过去分词有些已经转化成了形容词。
Eg. The dr remained lcked. 门仍然锁着。Everyne gt excited at the news.听到这个消息每个人都感到兴奋。Dn′t tuch the glass because it is brken.不要碰那个杯子因为它是破的。
过去分词作表语时和动词的被动语态结构相似,但两者表达意思明显不同,前者说明主语的特点及所处状态,而后者强调动作。
Eg. The library is nw clsed.现在图书馆关门了。(过去分词作表语)The cup was brken by my little sister yesterday.茶杯是我小妹昨天打碎的。(是被动语态,表示动作)
四、动词 –ing 形式作表语与过去分词作表语的区别
1. 动词 –ing 形式作表语,说明主语的性质或特征,意为“令人……的”,有主动意思。如:exciting,mving,amusing,astnishing,frightening,interesting 等。
2. 过去分词作表语多表示主语所处的状态,意为“感到……的”,有被动的意思。如:upset,disappinted,encuraged,amused,astnished,hurt,frightened,amazed,excited,experienced,interested,qualified,pleased,puzzled 等。
