Is yur schl made f bricks r cncrete blcks? Many are. But sme classrms in Guatemala and EI Salvadr were built a different way—with bttles full f trash! Hug It Frward—bttle schls use plastic bttles, trash, and lts f cmmunity helpers. Let’s see hw they d it!
First, kids and ther helpers pick up trash. They’ll burn plastic bags and chip wrappers int ec-bricks. Each classrm takes abut 3,500 ec-bricks t build. That’s arund ne tn f trash!
T make ec-bricks, the kids stuff empty plastic bags and chip wrappers int cleaned plastic bttles. They need abut 80 plastic bags r arund 100 chip wrappers t fill ne bttle all the way t the tp.
Helpers frm the cmmunity build frames fr the classrm walls. They add chicken wire t hld the ec-bricks.
The ec-bricks are tied in rws between the layers f chicken wire. Any gaps are filled with mre plastic bags.

Is yur schl made f bricks r cncrete blcks? Many are. But sme classrms in Guatemala and EI Salvadr were built a different way—with bttles full f trash! Hug It Frward—bttle schls use plastic bttles, trash, and lts f cmmunity helpers. Let’s see hw they d it!
First, kids and ther helpers pick up trash. They’ll burn plastic bags and chip wrappers int ec-bricks. Each classrm takes abut 3,500 ec-bricks t build. That’s arund ne tn f trash!
T make ec-bricks, the kids stuff empty plastic bags and chip wrappers int cleaned plastic bttles. They need abut 80 plastic bags r arund 100 chip wrappers t fill ne bttle all the way t the tp.
Helpers frm the cmmunity build frames fr the classrm walls. They add chicken wire t hld the ec-bricks.
The ec-bricks are tied in rws between the layers f chicken wire. Any gaps are filled with mre plastic bags.
