Sme cntinue t wrry abut mney when they becme millinaires — they wrked hard t becme wealthy, but then they need t cntinue making mney s they dn’t lse the sense f success they have achieved. Hwever, there are peple wh have turned their backs n their millins and fund ther frms f success in their lives. Jasn Harley is ne example.
Sixteen years ag, Jasn was a cllege prfessr with a huge six-bedrm huse and a frtune f tw millin dllars.Tday he lives in small drmitry rm with nly secnd-hand furniture.There are certainly n signs that Jasn is a rich and successful man! There is a small garden utside with a few fruit trees, which Jasn enjys taking care f. He als grws sme vegetables and a few flwers. He gets his clthes and a lt f ther things frm charity shps.
But Jasn appreciates this change. He is pleased t give up the lifestyle f a rich man. He was tired f being regarded as living a successful life, as a persn wh had everything while many peple had nthing. He made the chice t give all his mney away. And this, he said, brught him happiness and a sense f success in life.
“I dn’t need a lt f mney, I dn’t want t puy mre things. I have enugh,” said jasn. “What l want is t live simply and be helpful t thers. A few year ag, I was a millinaire, but I knew millins f peple died f hunger every year, and there were places with n schls and n teachers, S many peple culd never g t schl. They didn’t have the chance t learn and get n in life. This wrried me a lt and I felt very guilty being a rich man withut ding anything.”
Therefre he gave away all his mney t charities. Whenever he had mre than tw thusand dllars, he wuld give away small bank ntes t hmeless peple in the streets f lcal areas. “It was a kind f satisfactin and a real sense f success that I had never felt befre,” said Jasn. “Sure, many peple think that ‘success’ means having millins in the bank r a well-paid jb. But I think my sense f achievement cmes frm helping thers and finding true meaning in life.”
Mst peple believe when they are living cmfrtably and earning enugh mney, they will have n wrries. Hwever, mst peple never feel they have earned enugh.
