A perfectly preserved wreck (沉船) that has lain unnticed in the icy Baltic Sea fr ver 500 years has finally been cnfirmed. The Eurpean ship was first bserved in 2009,when a snar (声呐) explratin by the Swedish Maritime Administratin (SMA) indicated a large bject in the area. Hwever, it was nt until early 2019 that researchers frm Stn and MMT fund evidence f the sunken ship using underwater rbtic cameras.
When the team bserved the pictures f the 60-ft-lng shipwreck, they were surprised t discver it was 99 percent cmplete. The scientists cnsidered that the wreck's gd cnditin is due t its place in the Baltic Seabed, where the xygen levels are lw. Oxygen is key t mst cean life's survival. Therefre, such an envirnment where the shipwreck stays reduces r cmpletely remves the creatures that feed n rtting wd.
S althugh this ship is cntemprary t the times f Christpher Clumbus, it shws a remarkable level f preservatin after 500 years at the bttm f the sea. Dr. Pachec-Ruiz, wh led the MMT effrt, said, “It's almst like it sank yesterday. It's a truly astnishing sight."
The scientists are unsure what let the ship sink. Hwever, the ship's guns, which are in their "ready t fire" psitins, indicate it may have been the victim f a naval battle. In June 2020, my life changed and s did my family's. I remember the day like it was yesterday. My mther tld me the wrst news imaginable -- my dad had been diagnsed with Stage III Cln Cancer (结肠癌).
The news hit hard f curse. Hwever, in my head, my dad was a superman. As his daughter, I knew that cancer wasn't ging t beat him.
As weeks went n, life didn't change much within ur huse. My mm still went t wrk; my brther and I still went t schl; and my dad still wrked while als meeting his dctr. Hwever, I didn't realized hw much this new diagnsis was ging t change my life.
As treatment prgressed with my dad's cancer, I culdn't depend n him fr things he usually did. And with my brther being away at cllege, I had t take n a lt mre respnsibility. But that was nt the hardest part f this new jurney. It was the fear. The fear that I culd lse my Dad. The fear that I culd get a call saying that he was in bad cnditin. The fear that I culd never talk t him again. Yet with all these fears, there was never a dubt in my mind that my dad wuld beat this cancer. He was a superman.
